THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Illini women are so full of heart and effort and grit and determination and have a GREAT coach who actually has a scheme and draw's up plays on the go.........I liked the KB bust out on that OUT OF BOUNDS PLAY for an easy bucket........

If the MBB team had the leadership on the court AND on the sidelines that the WBB does , then the MBB season would look a lot different for the better..................One of the post game analysts said Coach Green should be B$G WBB Coach of the YEAR........I heartily concur........................

21-5 season record
10-4 conference record

# 1 in pru's heart......they really really are.....................Write the check Josh to keep Coach Green an Illini forever !!!!!!!!!!!!

As someone who is not as up to speed with WBB, how is our women's team not ranked despite (a) their hot streak, (b) their overall record, and (c) them being ahead of multiple ranked teams in the standings?
We've been just outside the rankings the past two weeks, including 27th most recently. The issue, I think, is multi-faceted. 1) The computer rankings don't love us. We're currently only 33 in the NET and Massey has us at 35. 2) It seems like the women's AP ranking, for better or worse, fluctuates less than the men's rankings. In the men's, it feels like you lose you move down automatically. In the women's, not so much. Maybe that's a function of the pool of women's teams with legit histories is smaller than men's teams, so it's harder to break through on biases? Or maybe women's voters are just dogmatic about computer ranks? I don't know. We were ranked as high as 19 earlier in the season before the injuries.

We'll see what happens this week. We have an 8-game win streak. Teams ahead of us in the rankings lost, including FSU and UMD, who we also beat this season. We are solidly fourth in the conference. Hopefully, we're finally undeniable.

Well with a new injury geez, all we have to play are freshmen and Cori... That's painful to contemplate.I have seen other than Berry the other players don't seem to know the offense well.We are down Catoira, Hayven and I think the walkon Zenere, besides Cori, but Holy smokes WeGotAn8strate game winning streak off Seniors leading the charge. We still NEED two out of these 3 left to secure the double bye and to move of that lame projected 8 seed at least up to 6.

Markowski is up to 24 points. Her size is a problem. Brynn needs to be faster on the double like she was against Penn State's big.
Both coach and Kendall stated that the game plan was to not double her. They were more concerned with kickouts for threes (which is apparently a big part of Nebby's arsenal) than they were with Markowski's twos. And, of course, we couldn't afford foul trouble on our scant bigs.

I was wondering how the heck CBS and ESPN bracketologists both have 12 teams in the tournament, yet Illinois has only played seven total games in the first quadrant...

One thing I just realized is that the rules for NET quadrants are different for men and women. The women's quadrants have smaller windows, so getting "quality" wins is more difficult-- I guess a reflection of women's basketball being so top-heavy when you get to the elite teams?
  • Quadrant 1
Home games against teams ranked 1–25, neutral games against teams ranked 1–35, and away games against teams ranked 1–45
  • Quadrant 2
Home games against teams ranked 26–55, neutral games against teams ranked 36–65, and away games against teams ranked 46–80
  • Quadrant 3
Home games against teams ranked 56–90, neutral games against teams ranked 66–105, and away games against teams ranked 81–130
  • Quadrant 4
Home games against teams ranked 91 and higher, neutral games against teams ranked 106 and higher, and away games against teams ranked 131 and higher

UCLA’s star Lauren Betts is out today with a foot injury. Could be a huge break for us if she’s still out on Thursday. Unfortunately based on my experience with Illini basketball she’ll probably return and drop 30.

Coach Beasley runs all the out of bounds plays and I agree. That was sweet and executed to perfection.

I would love to say we that will happen but the best that I can see is 1 - 2. Zero for 2 on the west coast swing and then an inspired victory over SCUM at home. Going 0 for 3 is entirely possible with the recent injury to Jasmine Brown-Hagger and our already thin bench. Having said that, what these ladies have accomplished is phenomenal. They have totally bought in to coach Green and her staff, and should they go 0 for 3 in these next 3 games they are still a tournament team IMHO. I could not be prouder nor more impressed with they have accomplished this season.

While a successful season was expected losing 2 key starters (a starter and 1st person off the bench minimum), dashed those expectations. Yet coach Green rallied her troops (Mel Gibson in Braveheart comes to mind) and they overcome every obstacle they have faced to this point. Amazing job Coach Green, and way to face adversity head on Illini woman and not only hold your own but exceed expectation. ILL.....

Open the checkbook for Shauna again! The big dogs will be looking to pry her away! If we want to get to the top, she is the 1 to get us there. Cmon Josh, make her top 5 paid in women's basketball. She deserves it after this season.

This response has such an “ALL lives matter” feel to it 🤮

Obviously the point here is this team deserves all the same attention and love the other other teams get. I mean god damn, the men’s team is tough to watch right now, but we’ll keep packing the State Farm center to watch them blow 16-point leads.

This woman’s team is playing so well right now and it’s like we have to beg just to get people to acknowledge they exist. I’m glad more people are starting to really see how good/exciting this team is and are finally starting to show up and support them!

It’s going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. I have to imagine they’re a lock for postseason, but who knows. The injuries are going to take their toll at some point love the heart, passion, and grit of this team!
