There was, though I've lost track of which insiders turned out to be kind of fake.Wasn’t there an insider that went by Lincoln something something back in the day? Cant quite remember thier exact name
Back on the old Brumby board, there was a guy who claimed to be Mark Kaplan and was providing all sorts of recruiting “news” that turned out to be fake. There was another guy who claimed to be Robbie Reid and assured everyone the he was coming to Illinois (before then committing to Michigan). One of the local beat writers even referenced him in an article. Messages boards were the Wild West back then, and I’m glad that — for the most part — we can now see through such charlatans. There was, though I've lost track of which insiders turned out to be kind of fake.
I love this for them.IU is also interested in talking with Travis Steele …
I am sure some remember Stephen Wacaser, who Turpin and Tate often had on the sportsline. He gave recruiting news and even had coaches using his services. Turned out he had a gambling problem and went to prison for robbing banks.Back on the old Brumby board, there was a guy who claimed to be Mark Kaplan and was providing all sorts of recruiting “news” that turned out to be fake. If he’s been a good boy, he was eligible for release last year. If not, he’ll be out between now and next year.I am sure some remember Stephen Wacaser, who Turpin and Tate often had on the sportsline. Lmao, Old Man Lincoln.Wasn’t there an insider that went by Lincoln something something back in the day? Cant quite remember thier exact name
To...coach their basketball team?
To...coach their basketball team?
His ties were with Coach WalkerLmao, Old Man Lincoln.
Dude was interesting, would type as if he was actually old Abe Lincoln lol. A fake insider though for the Groce era, he proclaimed that we'd land Brunson, Evans, XRM, Cliff. I wanna say he also was super confident Liddell was coming here but that might've been the tail end of his posting time here.
Him and that G1o barbershop dude were the main insiders for that time and got most everything wrong lmao but was at least an entertaining time on the board.
Would Travis Steel steal steel if Travis Steel could steal steel?![]()
In 2025, Indiana University is considering Travis Steele, for which of the following:
a.) headline a spring concert, as the frontman for a British-Metal cover band
b.) reboot and star in a low budget, tax write-off, B-Action movie
c.) coach their inept basketball team
d.) all of the above
e.) none of the above
I got nothing against the guy. It just sounds like a made up name.![]()
I'm not sure if anyone believed g0 was legit, but we definitely believed they were entertaining.Lmao, Old Man Lincoln.

My Dad was a basketball coach, this guy came to our house one time trying to raise funds for something sketchy. My Mom quickly recognized him as a Con Artist and told Dad not to give him a penny. The best part was when he backed out of our driveway, he ended up in a very deep drainage ditch, headlights pointing toward the sky, had to get a tow truck to pull him out.If he’s been a good boy, he was eligible for release last year. Wacaser sentenced to 16 years in federal prison
URBANA — A former basketball talent scout with a history of bank robberies, impersonating sports figures and forgery was sentenced Thursday to 16 years, seven months in federal prison.www.sj-r.com
I am surprised that Will Wade isn't near the top of IU's coaching search.
Can we get him on this board? My Dad was a basketball coach, this guy came to our house one time trying to raise funds for something sketchy. He would be awesome with all his insight and great stories, but sadly, he died in 1997.Can we get him on this board?

Rick Pitino basically told Indiana they should hire Beard. He is arguably one of the best coaches in the game right now. Had it not been for all the craziness that happened when he was at Texas, he'd be the hottest name in college basketball.
Chris Collins has the advantage of playing with elite talent and coaching that might benefit him. I do agree he's a really good coach and at some point you would think he'd want the opportunity to move to a higher profile program.IU people are scrambling ... I am now hearing Mark Byington and Ben McCollum ... Along with some Mick Cronin chatter ...
I don't think either are bad coaches but my goodness ... If you think you are a blue blood ... You better be able to hire a guy better than that ...
Chris Beard would be the no-brainer but I don't think IU is smart enough to figure that out ...
Chris Collins would be intriguing to me ... He can really, really coach ... But he does really well with the chip on the shoulder guys ... How would he do with elite talent and managing egos ...
