Totally agree with you . One of the many reasons I want Brad gone. I’m sorry I’m not a Brad fan and I never will be. You can call me a hater I don’t care. Been watching and supporting the Illini for 45 years. Jeremiah Fears should be on this basketball team. You don’t do an Illinois MCDAA that wants to come to University of Illinois like Brad did Fears . Bret would have never done an Illinois top high school football recruit like that . That’s the difference between Brad and Bret . Bret actually has a plan and vision for Illinois football. Brad has absolutely no idea what he’s doing. One season it’s get old and stay old. The next season it’s flip the entire roster and bring in a young team. High player turnover. High assistant coach turnover. Bret in football no assistant coach turnover small amount of players transfer. Bret understands retention of players and assistant coaches. Brad has no clue

I’m alive. I just think a lot of fans are dumb and short sided lol

Lol....I took a little Loyalty break this week as well...and coming back to 8 pages of this thread is......something.

Let's be honest here, we are really only talking about two things with respect to BU.

Loyola in '21....and questionable staff retention/hiring. That's it. Two things handled differently and we are not even remotely talking about BU's seat.

If we don't sh#t our pants vs. Loyola we are easily a Sweet 16 team and probably E8 with a reasonable track to the FF.
That game was literally and figuratively a nightmare for that team. (not trying to rehash where the blame goes)

That was truly a great team.

The assistant talk has been hashed out ad nauseum, so I'll leave that alone.

It is indeed crazy how so many people here are willing to overlook what is likely a case of serious domestic violence simply because the guy “really can coach.” History has shown us that there are rarely, if ever, one-time offenders. If I were AD, Beard is not someone I would gamble on, no matter his coaching prowess.

And yes, I know she dropped the charges and yes, I know we went through something not altogether different with TSJ. The main difference, of course being that TSJ fought all the way through the court system and effectively proved his innocence. Beard’s case is all to familiar in the domestic violence circles where the alleged victim often recants in an effort to maintain the relationship. That rarely ends well.

Any program that hires Beard had better at least be aware of potential problems that could arrive down the road.

I would say while the “assistants” are taking the brunt of the criticism, Brad was hired to act as the “coach” not the CEO. The buck stops with him, he needs to be responsible for coaching.

Thanks for posting. Beard is a good coach, but for me, that stuff you just posted would be a deal breaker. That said, Indiana is willing to tolerate quite a lot to win basketball games.
I am hearing that if Fran hangs it up in Iowa City, Chris Collins is the name on the top of their list. Despite what we feel about the Mild Kitties, Chris can really Coach. I think he could shine in Iowa City. What is the board's feeling on this hot take?

Lmao, Old Man Lincoln.

Dude was interesting, would type as if he was actually old Abe Lincoln lol. A fake insider though for the Groce era, he proclaimed that we'd land Brunson, Evans, XRM, Cliff. I wanna say he also was super confident Liddell was coming here but that might've been the tail end of his posting time here.

Him and that G1o barbershop dude were the main insiders for that time and got most everything wrong lmao but was at least an entertaining time on the board.
I think us Illini fans and Loyalty readers should be entitled to compensation from that era..lol

It all depends on kind of NIL money Iowa is going to be willing to give Chris Collins. Yeah I think he’s a good coach but if they are going to be cheap with him then his team will have limitations

I love Chris Collins, and think he's an excellent coach. I would hate for him to be at either Iowa or Indiana. I kind of wish we had hired him when Bill Self, or Bruce Weber or John Groce left.

I don't think Iowa would be a big enough jump for Collins to take. Indiana I could see, but as I said previously I think he's too at home at Northwestern to go anywhere.

I'm surprised Brad Brownwell doesnt get more attention for a bigger job. Guy gets the job done.

Hot ? Maybe not … But if no changes are made this offseason … It’ll get pretty warm …

Josh does NOT want to lose momentum … He will be proactive not reactive … Football is rolling, WBB is rolling down 3 starters, and MBB is not right now … Despite having the largest chunk of NIL … Josh is a smart guy and he’s not seeing ROI right now …

I think Collins is certainly on the list …

Ben McCollum is who they’re going to go after if he isn’t involved in bigger jobs …

I’m shocked he’s not at least a name for the IU job …
Yea, Evansville guy if memory holds. Is it his age? 56 is nothing. Dude just seems like a guy who can get a program organized and rolling at a high clip. I don't know his resources at Clemson, but I'm sure it is an against all odds type of situation.
