Wondering this morning if Genesis had to be shipped back home packed in ice? Unbelievable how much time she spent on the floor at USC after being cruely battered, mauled and thrown around like a rag doll. Yet, she always got back up (or frequently had to be helped back up) to run the team and score 22 pts till the very end. Fans HAVE to show up Sunday for last regular conference game at 12:30 pm on Sunday against Michigan to honor her and her fellow Seniors.

Gen was like a ping pong ball. Just ridiculous.

I know a lot of us on the board may not live close to C-U. However we might have family and friends who we can encourage to attend. I managed a few minutes on WDWS this morning with Loren and Brian to encourage fans to come out and give this team some love. Set 8000 for attendance goal. Let’s beat our Illini drums this week. I would think there will be some good newspaper articles being written. I know we can have a great crowd.

Does anybody have any info on Jasmine Brown-Hagger's hamstring injury recovery? Depends on severity is all I know. I thought I saw her at the UCLA game with just an orange wrap on her thigh only. Sure need her esp as another ball-handler besides Genesis. I hope she is back for Michigan on Sunday, and if not then, by The BTT starting March 5th.

This was so predictable but we have played all those teams this year and the only game that looked kinda overwhelming was Michigan State, but the rest of the games we were in the game...This year isn't over and I believe we will be at Michigan and get that 4 seed for the double bye..We could use that time of rest actually..I'm so curious about next year when that size difference will be gone...

Attendance- Last season 2023-24, Illinois was 43rd in the nation in home attendance (3,720 per game). [link]

This season, Illinois is averaging 4,847 per game (with 1 game to go), a 30% increase from last season. [link]

4,847 per game last season would have been 29th in the nation.

On this link you can click thru different IL WBB seasons to see the attendance numbers at the bottom of the page. For example in 2018-19, IL WBB averaged 1,511 per game. Go Illini

This is a good sign given that attendance is usually a trailing indicator. Spending some time ranked and getting to the tourney this season should provide a bigger boost for next year.

In my opinion, lack of fan support would be the ONLY reason we could lose Shauna Green as a coach. She has done so much with so little .I'm sure the fan support has increased since she has come, but we may be bottom 6 in attendance..Other teams with support could make ILL-INI a stepping stone place again.
My opinion too as previously stated but as I also mentioned, Shauna has a son in grade school that alone may keep her here for a bit regardless. She is signed until 2029-30 I believe at I million/year with incentives. Josh knows what he has, and will do what has to be done to keep her.

The interest in the Illini is growing weekly both locally and nationally. The addition of a Top 5 Recruiting class added to the returners next year (all currently injured) will drive the attendance up.

The GREEN EFFECT is alive & well.

A 12:30 Tipoff on Sunday with decent sunny weather in the 40's against Michigan in our last conference game honoring the tremendous Seniors will bring out a crowd.

For those like me that have general admission season tickets, get there EARLY! We'll be there by 11:30. Or ... hmm. Wait a minute. Scratch that. Should be PLENTY of good seats. Just show up at tip!

This is great. Next year’s team will be interesting with the combination of new and returning players.
Wallace and Dora will probably be the player with most experience.
Unless we can. Get Makira back for one more year.

Coach Green will only leave for a blue blood program. Quit with the bringing back Cook. She and Bollin are always injured or have personal issues. It's time to move on from both of them and look for their replacements in the portal.

If Makira comes back, that will mean Mike Thomas is our AD again. And that would be a bad thing, I believe.

We return very experienced players next year in Berry Wallace, Shay Bollin, Gretchen Dolan, and Jasmine Brown-Hagger. In addition, Cori Allen returns - played in 16 games as a freshman and some this year, and 6'7" Lety Vasconcelos (out for season with injury) played 100 minutes as a freshman for Baylor. Freshmen Mia Zenere & Hayven Smith have gotten a few minutes this year too.

5 new players out of high school making up a top 5 recruiting class are coming in - I guarantee that Coach Green will meld these groups quickly, efficiently and into a cohesive winning squad. Just like she did with the players that followed her from Dayton and the existing Illini players. What she does during the summer to bring these women together is incredible. In addition, Portel?

The GREEN EFFECT is alive and well in Champaign.

Care to expand on Shay please. I and others were really looking forward to seeing her play this season.

Yes. Agree to all of this and am excited but I feel only Wallace and Jasmine played extensive minutes this year. So I still feel like it will be a relatively new team. But I have no doubts it will be a blast to watch!
