There are definitely a few teams sitting at or around that 11 line that I would rather not see game 1.
Auburn not looking nearly like an unbeatable 1 seed as a few weeks ago.
It was due to the pod placement of the 4 seeds, not the 1 seeds. Each top 4 seed gets an independent pod placement.
Maybe I heard wrong, but between the BTT games, the head of the tournament committee said that they already had the first 9 lines completed and they were working on 10-12 tonight. Did anyone else hear that?
To me, that says the outside of a bid stealer, none of these conference tournaments, after maybe round 1, really matter.

Don’t know why that surprises anyone. One game against a good opponent won’t change the seed line much compared to the 30 other games. Conference tournaments are about pride for the P5.

I knew that the championship game didn't mean much, but teams potentially racking up a couple of Q1 wins on a Friday/Saturday seems kind of meaningful. Should Ohio State feel good about their chances since the Iowa game didn't happen?
This has been the case for years.
This is more for the teams that were already in before this weekend because seeding isn’t going to change based off of the results in the conference tournaments.
Teams like Ohio State of foot matters because they were on the bubble.

The games absolutely do matter going into Saturday. The committee by early part of Saturday generally has the top half of seeds solidified (or a couple alternatives if the Saturday outcomes change anything). The lower seeds are more of an art, and there is likely disagreements among committee members that need to get hashed out, which is why those seeds do not get agreed upon until late Saturday. Sunday games usually have no impact (unless a bid thief is possible, which they will have two alternatives ready to go).
Ohio State should not feel good about their chances. The loss to Iowa is likely a nail in coffin.

No, people push back against the idea that conference tournaments don’t matter at all. The idea that a Thursday BTT Quad 1 win doesn’t matter just as much as a Quad 1 win to end the regular season is absurd, and that’s what people who argue the BTT matters are saying.This has ALWAYS been the case, yet every year, people insist it isn’t.
I don’t think the belief that Saturday games would be taken into account is that widespread. Usually you only ever hear people say “MAKE it to Saturday,” which would mean the results of Friday matter … and I think they do. However, it’s just one game, so it can only “matter” in the sense of changing a team’s seed so much.

There are people every year — this year included — who posture that getting to the Sunday game and/or winning the B1G Tournament will bump us up a seed line or two. But every year — this year included — the committee has made it clear that the majority of the seeding is put to bed Friday night with only the potential bid stealers and the 11-12 range still in play. Few people here have contended that the BTT doesn’t matter at all. Those who have are wrong.

You're right, I'll be shocked if Illinois ends up in Milwaukee. Seems like Milwaukee will be Michigan State plus Wisconsin or Iowa State, and I can't see the committee wanting an Illinois-Iowa State rematch in the second round. That would kind of lame.

IMO Kentucky wouldn't be the worst case 3 seed matchup. If we're looking at Iowa State, Texas Tech, Texas A&M .... yeah.
I don't think it's outside the realm of the possibility that they have seed lines set for a lot of teams but have a couple market to flip depending on results of Saturday and Sunday games.
Nothing crazy but like say in the event of Tennessee beating Florida they would flip spots(though I think Florida should be locked as 1 seed).
It's really hard to tell what # seed will be. We beat both teams in the BTT finals. Will that do us any good? Who knows? I can't see us higher than a 6. Just in the B1G and SEC alone, there are a whole bunch of teams sitting about where we are. We'll find out today how disappointed we (and several other teams) will be. I think the selection committee has the hardest job ever.

But after that, there's still a "scrubbing" process where they can adjust the bracket based on recent outcomes.

And for reference, we had like 3 Quad 1 wins last year heading into the BTT. If the brackets were truly set on thursday or friday with no modification in play, there's NO WAY we would've been a 3 seed.
