@msphdillini Sorry I cannot let this slide. This is a moronic statement.

No one will take Tyler, not even high-schools. Looks like there is unwritten clause in BU's contract to keep Tyler on the coaching table.

He could pick almost any job in the State of Illinois and within a few years, talent or not to begin with, would have a juggernaut.
I’m fixated on the “unwritten clause in BU’s contract.” 😂😂😂

Do you like having good players that Geoff recruits?

This …

I like Geoff, and if he leaves for a HC job then I’ll be happy for him …

Do I think we’d be fine ? Of course … But it’s not like we’re talking about Hamer here … Geoff has and continues to bring a lot to the table and has been here a long time …

To be fair to both @band camp and @FrankNitty30 , I think you're kind of talking past each other. The original quote about Tyler not even being qualified to coach a high school team didn't come from FrankNitty30. It came from a different poster in a closed thread, so trying to show that as a quote from the poster in question was difficult.

I can only speak for myself, but my son's high school (large-school classification in Central Iowa) is in the market for a head coach. I can assure you that if Tyler Underwood was interested in coaching this high school team (my son doesn't play basketball, so no direct interest here), I'd fully support that hire.
I would fully support that hire as well.

Lol yeah. "Unwritten clause" in a contract translates roughly to:

What are the odds Hamer is replaced? I know we think it's a slam dunk, but pessimistic me isn't so sure. If he IS replaced, I hope Illinois lands Yaklich. I know Boynton *could* be an option for the old TA role, but I'm also a little skeptical he leaves Michigan. If Barnes retires from Tennessee, Rod Clark would be an outstanding hire, though.

If Geoff wants to be a Head Coach then I'd be happy for him to pursue that dream. He's not completely irreplaceable...no one is. That's just life.

I don't want him to go, but such is the nature of assistant coaches. I don't think we have to act like Brad won't have him replaced within a week with a guy like Mike Boynton, Luke Yaklich, Ben Johnson (should he not get another HC shot). Especially, if we make a S16 +...Josh Whitman will have donors to help facilitate some top notch X and O guys..

You're right OB98. Reading was hard for me this morning. Sincere apologies.
Just frustrated reading the same horse !!!! posts from people who don't know squat.
Best to you all. 🧡💙

Cheers Jules.

High last I had heard, maybe @Indy Illini Fan and @illini0440 can confirm

3 names you listed are good possibilities to fill a spot

I’ll be pretty surprised if there isn’t transition there …

As far as TA replacement … Ben Johnson, Mike B, Rod Clark, P Murph, Brandon Chappell … Those are names I’m consistently hearing brought up but Brad hasn’t been that focused on it …

I am hearing mutual interest between Yak and Illinois … That would be our Hamer replacement …

I can confirm that I have spoken to one of if not the largest donor for our MBB program and was told the funding would be there if needed to support two MAJOR assistant hires … This person specifically mentioned Yak and another name he’d like …

How does our funding compare to other schools across the country? I saw that Maryland supposedly received $10 million for NIL. Do we have any donors willing to contribute that much to help us?

Speaking of TA … He wanted the Duke job … He ain’t getting it …

Scheyer is keeping it in the “brotherhood” …

Across the country … I’m confident in saying we’re top 15 … Where we land in there is tough to say because everyone lies about how much they really have …

In terms of the Big Ten … We’re top 4 … And you’re splitting hairs at the top …
