Unpredictable team this year, as much smoke for a surprise deep run as there is a disappointing early exit. The 8-8 record vs tournament teams supports the seemingly coin flip views of the prognosticators.
My thoughts: floor: 1st round exit, ceiling: Sweet Sixteen. I hate to put it out there, but this team is soft.

I'll be watching though. PROVE ME WRONG, FELLAS!

Since it's pick on Carey Booth week, his body language, specifically defensively, has always reminded me of Prince in that Charlie Murphy Dave Chappelle sketch...

That will NEVER not be funny and bring forth a chuckle from me !!!

My guess is Booth has been coddled all his life and lived on his dad’s success. He is probably mentally soft so when he made mistakes and was held accountable (aka yelled at) I bet he turtled and played worse/stopped trying to have an excuse of why he isn’t playing besides not being good enough. Brad doesn’t seem like a coach that has the true ability to coach people differently. He is a yell at the best player type of guy so when he yells at the worst player, he can say he is treating everyone the same. Which I am all for.

Yes if there's one thing we know about Brad, he has no time for people living off their dad's success.

I dunno, my sense is that Booth is the MOST likely to leave whenever the season is done. Body language hasn't looked good to me for a while.
A couple of games ago Whitman was giving the players a hug as they left the court. Booth just walked past him, no acknowledgement, just kept walking. So yeah he is gone next season. Sat near his Dad at MSG, Booth Sr never really paid attention to game even when his son played.

There are no guarantees on what you are getting from the portal or bringing in from high school. Even the best of coaches have so called misses, Self and Scheyer for just a couple of examples. I would venture you would be hard pressed to find more than a handful of coaches in all of D1 basketball that could honestly say every recruit and transfer on their team reached their expectations and potential. There is no point in blaming coaches about it, that's just part of college basketball. You might get a top ten recruit or big name portal transfer that turns into a washout or a project, or have a walk on who becomes your most dependable player. There's know way to predict or control it.

Off court embarrassment? Has a high 3 pt % on low volume. Weak practice player?
Carey is 6 for 25 from 3 for 24% on the season. He also has taken 8 whole attempts inside the arc at 38% shooting. He also has the 2nd highest turnover rate on the team, the lowest assist rate, and in one of the most remarkable offensive efficiency stats I've ever seen, he is an insane 0.45ppp worse than the team average, meaning that whenever he actively participates in a play we're down about half a point.

So yeah, his on court play this season has been juussssssst a bit below your assessment. And that's before we even talk about Carey off court.

I would say DGL is right there with him

I would expect that --stayed around when he was about the only continuity on the roster and hasn't really emerged as competition with KB or KJ. For a guard with a 25% 3 point shot, and not a lot of size for a high major PG, he's gotten decent minutes. I feel like he's been a valuable player, but that doesn't mean he's happy where he's at on the depth chart.

DGL only seems to be more recently and I do think there were times during the season where his play deserved more minutes.

He basically fell out of the rotation after Rutgers and was the best player on the team against Wisconsin. He has been pretty bad since the Duke game though(everyone was bad in it).

DGL seems to have more of a valid case for being upset though he also has only taken one 2pt attempt since Duke and his best trait is attacking the basket, so he's settled for too many 3's in his limited minutes.

Booth has basically done nothing to suggest he deserves any minutes all year.

I agree with you, it seems like it. But, he should also look at his situation as on the other side. He played over 500 minutes, on a top 25-ish P4 team, as a sophomore, and IMO he looks like a much improved player from last year. He isn't in a horrible spot here (knowing that he could be recruited over,) and as a third year player with the same coach, he could be on a Coleman like progression. He probably won't think that way, and he should grab a bag if he can, but I'd like to see him back.

After the Oregon game, I thought DGL was going to go on a run and really keep KB on his toes, while being a very efficient contributor. At this point, I don't think that has happened and nor will it happen. He probably will leave after this year.
