I can’t believe how many Xavier Scott fans are in the stands watching this game.

I feel very differently about this. Tomi hasn't performed the best defensively against strong, athletic frontcourt players, and from what I can see, Texas definitely has such players. We'll see though. I hope that you're right and I'm wrong.
Texas is an athletic team, but their 6'11 Center (5th year senior) isn't really a standout (5th leading scorer) and he's pretty lean. Kaluma is strong and athletic and a standout, but he's 6'7.

Getting healthy? Yes. Toughest conference? Not arguable at all, IMHO.
This is all about opinion,I remember same was said about the football conference not too long ago and you see how that played out…my point is the game still has to be played.

I feel like a legitimate reply to every post on every CBB message board between Selection Sunday and the start of the tournament that has to do with which opponents would be tons of trouble and which would be an easy win is: "We live in an age where a 16 beat a 1 by 20."

It's Madness!

I’ll be honest I don’t think Illinois can match either of these teams toughness. Defense has been soft all year. 1st round loss incoming.

We have the talent to beat both teams. Can't get sped up or rattled into easy turnovers. Keep it simple.

This is the Ncaa tournament and you have to go out play each game as if it’s your last….it’s win or go home.

I think our frontcourt is going to be an advantage against either of these teams. Ivisic and a healthy Morez should dominate inside and out. I haven't seen anyone that guards like Bam does. All of this with the caveat that we play up to our capabilities of course.
I think it cuts both ways. I like us on the offensive boards against these teams if we play hard and I think Tomi can create major mismatches and Morez can be a force. What does concern me is how we're going to handle either teams aggressiveness taking it the ball to the rack. Both Tomi and Morez have struggled with their positioning at times and have been prone to bad fouls. I think having our bigs stay out of foul trouble will be a huge key as the way Texas and Xavier are both playing they might be able to rack up the fouls.

Our defensive efficiency dropped significantly when we started having health issues. I don't see that as a guaranteed 1st round loss. I'm hoping we will see an uptick in our defensive prowess with the healthy practice time this past week. Sorry, I just can't do the doom and gloom thing. Perhaps the Cards fall from grace has you feeling pessimistic?

I'll admit I went into this game wanting Texas to win because they seemed like the less disciplined team, but watching it for a bit now, I find myself rooting for Xavier. Although the downside of whoever we play in these play in games that we're getting the team that wins and is feeling good about themselves, so we're not going to like it no matter the outcome!
