I’m simply the messenger but Texas has had conversations with Brad’s people today …

They’re definitely interested

Not surprising to me, especially if Brad wants to keep Tyler around as an assistant coach. If Brad does make the move, at least we will know 100% that Hamer is gone, and that is a win in my book.

With Josh in charge, I am 100% confident that we will be fine long-term no matter what decision Brad makes this offseason.

EDIT: Whoops read it as in Brad's team was definitely interested, though I am sure there is still mutual interest.

wut? you expect a coach's agent to automatically turn down offers and/or interest? that not how this works

I will say that actively shopping your guy is a whole 'nother deal
I am personally fine with all of this happening. The agent's job is to maximize his clients' pockets, which in turn makes him more money in commission. This is not a game for the weak of heart. Some of it might be for getting the client a new job, and another major consideration is putting pressure on the current employer to renegotiate salary up. We may not like it as fans, but we would be naive to think this is not happening everywhere. It is not like Champaign in Central Illinois is a dream destination to move to...

Brad plays this game every season to get more money. I think its a silly exercise but his agent probably likes it.

Brad has brought Illini back from the abyss and can probably retire in CU. If he makes the same mistake Mackovic did and goes to Texas for money he could be unemployed in 3 to 4 year.

I like Brad but until he gets us to Final Four he is not an Illinois legend. Indiana hire of DeVries shows that there are not a lot of high quality NCAA proven coaches looking to move this year. Kruger had been to NCAA finals. Self was coming off NCAA elite 8. Weber was coming off NCAA sweet 16. Groce was coming off NCAA sweet 16. Devries did not even make NCAA at WV this year. Unless you get Miller or Cronin Illini fans will not be happy with Brad replacement.

This SI article lists Nate Oats, Ostelberger, Royal Ivey, Sean Miller, Quin Snyder. https://www.si.com/college/texas/me...head-coach-hot-board-rodney-terry-sean-miller

This one lists a Sean Miller,
scott Drew and a bunch of nba coaches. Seems like Sean Miller might be the top priority?
Would Snyder really come back to college for anything other than the Duke job?

Texas is interested in Brad … That’s why they contacted his people today …

They’ve contacted many candidate’s representatives …
Not surprising at all, given BU's history and high profile in the profession. But as others have said, with Josh in charge I am fully confident in the program's ability to turn any change into an opportunity. That is not to say I hope BU bolts, but this is big business with a lot of money, ego, competitiveness, etc. in play and agents are well compensated to maximize earnings.

He's not getting that job. Ever.
And college is more similar to pros than ever before. There will be more NBA guys who go to college than maybe we would have seen years ago.
