just so it looks like they got their guy instantly after they fired their coach, to give everyone the illusion no one would dare so no to them ?

We can compare coaches all day, but the difference in the game to me, was Will Riley. He was on another planet, and the best player on the floor.
When X went on their last run in the second half, I thought Will needed to have a touch on every possession, and he did not. No knock on BH, but he shouldn't be hunting his shot when Will is burning the house down.

If your argument is:

SM > BU due to tourney bids/wins, your argument took a hit last night. It’s a fickle argument and shouldn’t be such an emphasis on coaching success. But if you subscribe to it, you gotta take the L just like Sean did last night.

If your argument is:

SM and BU are both good coaches and SM may be able to do way better than he is now when he has more resources (and payment leeway) than he did at AZ. I think that’s legit.

Predicting coach success is a fools errand. Past success is not always an indicator of future success. But I do think Sean should get the chance to prove he still has it. Texas (or Illinois) would be a great place for him to do that.

But no matter what, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. JW must find a way to hold onto his known commodity unless he is forced to role the dice on SM.

Lmao, exactly my feelings. Anyone here really would rather have Sean miller now?:ROFLMAO:
so this means you'd rather have Chris Collins, Kevin Willard, Steve Pikiell, Greg Gard, Fred Hoiberg, and any other coach who has beaten us this year?

These type of posts make no sense. I didn't think Xavier was a very talented team. Miller has done a great job getting a mediocre team to the tournament. That's why his name keeps coming up for big jobs. You could say, well if he's so good, he should have a better team. But in the NIL world, certain teams are simply at a disadvantage because they don't have the money to keep up.

pretty much

its no surprise why the B1G and SEC were able to get so many teams into the tournament, and why they are both entering the second round with 8 teams still alive. money talks with players . and its all about the players really , with very rare exceptions

No, the point is that about 75% of the fans put a coaches success for a season into the tournament bag. If you don't win in the tournament, the season was a failure. That's the absolutely ridiculous thought process, but it is what it is.

Based on that, Sean Miller's season is a failure and he should be in the hot seat. Don't use excuses for one and not the other.

We have the youngest team in college basketball. It's been noted on national telecast after national telecast, but people here don't seem to get it. The job that Brad has done has been wildly good given the wave of sickness, injury and no practice when it comes to trying to develop a roster like this.

I'm not sure if you're one of the win in the tournament or you've had a bad season and should be on the hot seat psychos, but if that's the case....Brad has clearly been the better coach this year.

If you're the common sense, think it through and look at things from the lens of normally......you could to the conclusion that each team has their own set of circumstances and one or two games doesn't define a season, abilities or value.

Brad has navigated some REALLY choppy waters, yet you will have some crazies that, if we lose to Kentucky tomorrow.....will make the same idiotic commentary.

I was at the game yesterday and I will be again tomorrow. Looking forward to it. The loudest cheer during the introductions were for Brad. This board does not represent the VAST majority of our fan base.....thank God.

Thing is I don’t think Whitman tries to match any offer Underwood gets from another school I think he’s tired of BU using that to try and get a raise and BU season this season isn’t worth him getting a raise. Jmo

Well, we are currently pursuing half their starting lineup in the transfer portal (not to mention we wanted Maddox last year)

Freemantle is also a fantastic player

I'm honestly astounded that they managed to finish middle-of-the-pack in such a terrible conference, with that amount of talent

Illinois won comfortably by 13

Eager to see more excuses from the Sean > Brad camp
Your definition of comfortable and mine are different. As Xavier made their move at the end, and we decided to jack up contested 3’s early in the shot clock, I didn’t feel as confident as you. Fortunately, a Will Riley desperation 3 was the straw that broke Xavier’s back. We won because we have better players, not Brad.

Xavier was never within single digits in the last 4 minutes of the game, in fact the lead was never less than 9 points at any time the last 16 minutes of the entire game

Lead was 15 with 2 minutes to play

I think your memory is a little hazy :) Xavier never threatened

When we win its because we have better players, when we lose its because of coaching... smdh... who acquired the players and coached them all season?

I hope we go on an incredible run the next few weeks.

brads a great recruiter and with a couple exceptions has been a terrific talent evaluator.

Last night a couple stars made plays and won a game against a lower seeded team that had to play 2 days prior and then travel. Someone said that got to Milwaukee at 3 AM.

Last night was solid a very solid win and fun. Hope we get another tomorrow!

If you believe we have the better players in every game then blaming coaching in (some, many?) of the losses seems pretty logical.

I wasn't saying that was how I view things, sorry... should've /s after that comment, I suppose

I've been plenty critical of coaching, even recently

Same and same. I had to double check what thread I was in - felt like the postgame.

Brad ran laps around Sean tonight.

Miller intentionally running a zone at the under-4, when his team is down double digits and needs to increase the pace for more possessions, was one of the more bone-headed decisions of the tournament. That he continued to run it almost to under 90 seconds....

It's not at all a lock that Sean leaves Xavier even if he is offered the Texas job ...

CDC has his sights set on two other coaches ... He wants to make a BIG SPLASH ... He is having conversations with both of those coaches/their people today ...
And the $1M question, is whether Brad is one of those other two…

80% of being a college coach is getting better players which is the head coaches responsibility. See Groce era.
