are you gonna go spend all the NIL on freshman again? enough with this crap
Brad’s excuses begin….

If that’s what he’s blaming it on (and it very well could be the reason) then why the hell did he construct a young roster in the first place?!?!

He’s blaming the loss/season on something he would have seen last summer?? Like he didn’t have a choice in this…

Will played like scared kid today no way he is NBA ready. Tell him to just look at his year compared to TSJ last season and see how many minutes he gets to play.
Correct, but he's not scared, just need to play more, at this level. Come on back for another year long with a few others and the Illini will roll.

This is the first year in maybe over 50 of watching the Beloved that I missed the last game live. Golfed 18, caught the last 10 minutes. I should have done 27.

Will has 4 years to be as old as TSJ. That is why the NBA wants him. He is doing things now that show his promise

The problem with younger players is being consistent. Hard to win a single elimination tournament if you aren’t

Storied Programs get calls. It’s up to us in the NIL era to overcome it.

I like Brad, he's a good coach. My biggest problem is the inconsistency in the program and the message to the follow through. "Get old, stay old" followed by having one of the youngest teams. Constantly turning over his staff and roster. I would really like to see more stability overall.

Disappointment, yes. But as I make the transition this late Sunday afternoon in the early spring from the disappointment of a long dedicated Illinois fan (I entered the University in September 1964) to a more objective frame of mind, I'm proud of Coach Underwood and the basketball team. As I understand it, these were men, young in years, on a team comprised of teammates who had little experience playing together. Under the circumstances, to not only make the Tournament, but also to advance to the Round of 32 was a significant accomplishment for Illinois sports. We have a bright future in Illinois athletics. With Coach Underwood, Coach Bielema, and Athletic Director Josh Witman in mind, and to use what has become a cliche', if you build it, they will come. Thank you and all the players for a great season.

He said it again this year. Don't forget the junk offense he brought to town. 1 second weekend in 9 years despite all those wins....Letting Kofi get beat by sister Jean and a juco center who is probably working at Enterprise. Letting guys like Podz walk. Not paying Coleman but spending the money on Humdinger, Booth, Jake Davis. Et al. Can't tell me Danja, Amani, Goode, Coleman, buck wouldnt not have been the same NIL money and production. BU roster was atrocious in depth, front court, defensive talent and consistent ball handler. He employs his son who has 0 experience as a college basketball player or coach and some video coordinator. He thinks he is the smartest man in the room way too stubborn to change and then just blames everyone else except him who made all the decisions.

So that’s 5 straight seasons getting our !!! kicked to end the season. Not gonna get to the final four every year but for gods sake make it close for once.
The worst part about making the tourney is that 99% of the teams in the field will end their season on a loss.

I'd still rather the season end this way than when we're bounced from the BTT, or worse, not invited to it at all.

Frustrating game for so many reasons, the main one being if we ran even the semblance of a real defensive scheme this is a win. Add in a million unforced turnovers, bad 3-point shooting and zero luck on rim-outs. Top it off with the cherry of the ridiculous missed call on KJ’s three and 🤬🤬🤬

I hate the NIL. I hate the current state of basketball. I liked the old days knowing most of these guys were coming back. I will always love Illini basketball, but this version of the college basketball world is complete garbage. I'm not opposed to playing players, but let's get a grip on the musical chairs. Contracts for periods of time should be signed.

And secondly, stop picking on Brad. The guy has produced a winning program. Does he make mistakes? Absolutely. Some of the in-game decisions are maddening. But I'm here for it, and he is OUR coach.

Until next season.....peace to all.
"Picking on Brad?" The guy makes a gazillion dollars. I'm sure he can handle the truth. The sentiment that Brad is the best we can do is why we'll never see a Final Four while he is here. If it wasn't for the buyout Josh owes him, I'd be ready to move on. We can do better. THAT'S LOYALTY. We can do better.
