Are we now back to, let's get Storr and Malik Moore locked in, so we can go after the big fish, who's decisions likely won't be until May? Even getting Coward committed knowing he's going through the draft process would be ideal in my mind - I think his chances of coming back for a year are high.

I think overpaying for 2nd tier guys is just the game these days - I would think if Will or Sarr are ready to commit we can always go to donors specifically to fund them coming back and we could find the money. I don't think keeping it "in reserve" makes a lot of sense from a strategy perspective. Plus the revenue sharing money is coming and I assume that will be $3-5M for rev share for basketball for us - that would fund Will or Sarr coming and we're not getting both of them, obviously. So - we should be spending all of our NIL now I would think.

Moore is one of those guys they will not over pay for. Might be different if he could be a secondary ball handler, but that’s not his game.

Yeah, I think Moore is unrealistic at this point. Not sure if the staff will now pivot and wait to see who else becomes available in the next couple weeks.

If Ian Jackson is St. John's bound (which was the immediate most likely destination for him) then filling in the SG, SF positions with:

Sarr, Storr and Coward would be a very nice rotation - Sarr is 6'7.5" Storr is 6'7" and Coward is 6'6" would give us the length and athleticism to guard the perimeter and Sarr and Coward's 3pt shooting I'm very high on.
All nice additions, but we'd still need to add quickness and handles. Unless they think one of the FR guards is able to contribute.

Purdue is really about to run Smith, Loyer, Barnhizer, TKR, and Cluff and we’re gonna run Kylan, unknown transfer (less and less likely to be elite with every day that passes), Sarr/Riley, Mirkovic, and Tomi. Purdue is gonna kill us if that’s how we end up.

Where has Illinois been mentioned with Coward? He is awesome, and would thrive in our system IMHO. Gives us a 6-7 SG/Wing who is a willing defender, passer and rebounder inaddition to a solid offensive skill set. Was placed on my radar by PepeSilva last year, really like his game.

Coward reminds me of the Trevian Jones player we thought we would see at Illinois. A 6-7 Brandon Paul type player.

Despite all of the insider proclamations about IL’s top-tier budget for basketball, this off-season has made it obvious that their budget is 2nd tier for basketball. IL has a top 10 rank for its incoming football recruits, so it seems most of the budget has been allocated there.

Reminder, it's April 10th. Sarr/Riley, backup guard, and a transfer two is their plan.
I had Riley as good as gone but if this is the case, we're going to need the collegiate version of NBA Patrick Beverly. A guy that's going to defend, knock down the 3 and be able to handle the ball while not expecting franchise player money.

On this board by Indy last evening - which usually means we've reached out. To summarize, PepeSilva weighed in and we all agreed he would be a great fit.

Well if they can't offer that money to anyone but Will and Dame, why even bother with contacting top portal guys? At some point, don't they have to tell Will and Dame that they need to land some big fish. It's their money if they want it, but the staff can't be held hostage waiting for them.
He just said we wouldn't over pay and I hope we don't for anyone.

That purdue group would give up close to 90 points a game.

They will be much better, and we might be worse. They could be preseason #1.
We might be better too! Oh ye of little faith. It's early. Few played better than Kylan and Tomi the last few weeks and if Sarr is added to go with what we have and more to come. I am not so pessimistic as many. Kylan and Tomi are an amazing start to go with big Z. Few have a better 40 minutes at the 5 and Kylan is going to be awesome if he plays like he did the last few weeks

Guys will pull out of the draft and be available. Likely many better than are being talked about now.

this is a Dix type of board. We can only focus on one body part with our puns and innuendos.

All things considered though, I'd be willing to make this swap
If I recall correctly, June was always telling Ward that he was a little hard on the Beaver...
