:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: No offense, but "Illinois decided to go elsewhere" is hilarious. I do appreciate your positivity and passing along what you hear. I'm confident they'll land somebody, but this has the makings of a really bad offseason.
I mean in part that will end up being true, not that the staff or whatever didnt want him, but because they couldn't get the money that was needed to get him.

After a short time to reflect, a couple quick thoughts:

It stinks missing on Sarr. Think he could have been very valuable defensively, but believe you can replace him on the offensive side. That price tag is just a little whack for a non-proven college player. The fact TSJ was in the 750k range just proves how ridiculous it is and I don't blame the donors for feeling a certain way.

I believe Illinois will have 3 all league guys next season. Kylan is going to take a nice leap into year 2. He is a way better shooter than the numbers showed this season and think some are overlooking that. Tomi is going to be one of the best bigs in the league. I also truly believe the staff will get a go-to scorer on the wing. I think it's inevitable. Jamir would be a solid choice 👍

No sense in getting worked up quite yet, imo. Still have a couple weeks before that fear sets in. That said, get to work staff!
Oh dang. I skipped from page 4 or so to the end. Where did Sarr end up?

Edit: Nevermind. I think I found it in "price has exceeded what we're willing to pay."

"We have a top NIL package in country"

"We're in on (insert player)"

Player reported asking price, proceeds to not even consider Illinois...

"Yeah he was overpriced and overrated anyway"

Never change 🤣

Hahaha 🤣 🤣 🤣 add him to the list of... "He's leaning towards Illinois and the staff feel good that we will get him".

If you google it, AI overview says some reports say he is close to committing to Illinois. We finally find out who our insiders' sources are.

Whoever is in charge of the NIL appraisal on this staff might be the weakest link
that job seems impossible haha

all it takes for one school to overvalue a guy for the market to jump, and idk if "comps" is great anymore. Coleman got like 4x what marcus domask got a year earlier

Omg, get this garbage out of here.

If Ben Humrichous plays 15 mpg, shoots 48% from the field and 40% from 3 and plays the game like Jack, I’ll buy you your favorite bottle of whisky and send it with a handwritten apology.

Well now that I won’t get “old takes exposed”, kind of thought Sarr leaving Barca without permission was a pretty telling character move.

By no means am I saying you don’t take him because of this, but it sure doesn’t point to a guy of high character.
Yeah that move right there kinda screamed, I want to showcase my talent to the (NBA or NCAA), not I'm heading to Illinois anyway.

I don't think they could have seen it coming but it's quite apparent they're not even close on any of these guys.

$8-900k-mil for Morez is just comical looking back.

Worst thing they could do a overpay a career long medicore player like Adam Miller vs waiting for draft dropouts/future decommits/reclasses

Maddox Storr David Jones Demin the list just grows and grows while the staff continues to overestimate themselves.

Lmao. So, everyone who points out Ben's shortcomings is a bully, Biff Tannen, Mean Girl, ingrate?

Yet you are the only one actually name calling?

Ben's not a B1G caliber player. Maybe in this current climate, neither is/was Jack. But then is not now, and now is not then so I'll rely on my eyes, and opinions of basketball dudes with light years more insight than me, and he still won't match Jack's 2005 year..nor will he play like Jack and endear himself to Illini hearts and minds with his play.

When it comes to Ben, the way I see it is we have 15 roster spots and need some players for our main squad to practice against. He's at least good enough for that.

I know this sounds stupid but I’d legit like to know what the “whisper campaign” is saying. I can only guess it’s showing the recruits a lack of adjustments and high level strategy that they claim will hamper their growth. That might have some truth to it.
From my perspective, we are now comparing Brad with Bret. Donors see that one has a clear plan, adjusts to personnel, isn’t afraid to upgrade a coach and is landing top notch talent. While Brad seems to be throwing personnel plans against a wall to see what sticks, promoting coaches into rolls they clearly aren’t ready for, missing on high end recruits and not making seasonal adjustments. Hard to argue with all of that.

Brad and staff told people Dix was a done deal … Then Sellers was a done deal … Then it’s Sarr is a done deal …

MISS … MISS … MISS …

Who besides Dix have they even brought on campus that’d be a difference maker next year ???
Ive been thinking for weeks we are gonna end up with plan w, x, and z. I guess we are in better shape than texas A&M with 2 players on roster

Ben wouldn’t come back for that

Wouldn't it be good if, for the integrity of the game, rules were put in place to require some sort of minimal explanation of the health status of players? Sort of what is done for NFL guys. Or maybe I'm wrong about the NFL, as I rarely watch that league. (I know about ... what is it, FERPA? Wave that, or forget playing for-massive-profit and for-massive-salary money).

I don't get all this hate. We are not done. We likely are not getting Miller but regardless. We have 40 minutes of 7ft plus centers that can shoot, Boswell who was playing at an All B10 the last part of the season, a Nike Hoop Summit 4 who is big bodied, will.match up in the post better than anyone from last season if you saw him play the other night, and are in better shape than this time last season by a mile. I wish I could've seen some of you guys make it rain when you were Ballin! I swear we could sign some like a young Michael Jordan and some would be unhappy. It's still early. Guys are still in the draft process. I want guys too but damn.
