I like this analogy. To carry it further.....I’m exhausted. When does this fantasy auction draft end? I hate what is happening to one of my favorite things, CBB.![]()
But the problem is that you only argue one side of the argument and it is the least worrisome side.He was an AC at Arkansas when it was a top 25 team. If his bio is correct any G-League experience came after he was hired as an AC by his daddy (and it looks like it was a summer league gig, not anything full time).
OK, but Taylor's entire coaching resume before getting hired as an AC at UCLA is 2 years as a grad assistant at St. John's. Not a coach. Grad. Assistant. And Nate had zero AC jobs before getting the AC job at UCLA. Which, isn't that something you always say - "Illinois should not be your first AC job!" I imagine UCLA basketball sees itself on a similar level.
Both guys who never had an AC job before the job at Arizona. "Arizona shouldn't be anyone's first AC job!" says Indy Zona Fan in an alternate universe.
And if you want to criticize Tyler or Hamer for the way their performance of the role is going, have at it. But 99% of the criticism I hear is about their age or experience, and how "no other Big Ten/Top 25/P4" team would hire someone with so little experience.
Edit to note: And you have had real legitimate criticism of their performance in there, for sure. I have no problem with that. It's just these exaggerated statements about how no other high level coach would hire a young AC with no prior AC experience at a lower level, or wouldn't hire their own son, which are demonstrably false, that I take issue with. And really the only issue I have is that so many others on here take it at face value without doing any of their own research or even engaging in the slightest bit of skepticism.
I can't believe you guys are being so selfish and spending other donors money. Open and only fans and start selling pictures your feet. We have a roster to fill out.
I see a lot more final four and elite 8 teams in that second tier…
No I’m not sick but thanks for asking.I hope you’re not sick. You need to hang on for a while.
I see that Hamer's mom has joined the chat. One way to improve coaching continuity is to keep Hamer.
I really do think there is little chance of this happening with DD, but I truly like his ability to score against virtually anyone at any time. I really like the front court guys we have on the roster, but 4 terrific players is better than three.I just don't see the fit next to the twins, Mirk, and even Ty.
I think any remaining budget has to go to wings/guards.
One way to improve coaching continuity is to keep Hamer.
Avatar checks out!I'm 100% on board for this.
I feel @Indy Illini Fan twitching every time he sees Hamer's name. One way to improve coaching continuity is to keep Hamer.
You think he is more athletic than AJ Storr?I'm kinda scared to say it but the guy Andrej reminds me of is AJ Storr.
Very long, bouncy guard. Three level scorer always hunting his own shot. Smooth athleticism, explodes to the rim on drives. Takes some shots he shouldn't, prone to overdribbling, a bit of a black hole. Not much of a defensive reputation.
I think Stojakovic is a little more athletic (which helps defensively) and his 1.8 APG is double what Storr has ever averaged, but there is some commonality there for sure.
Definitely a more varied player than his dad (at least the later career stand-in-the-corner Peja), but not quite the same lights-out shooter.
On tape, I saw a lot of K Davis helping off his man and getting steals. Great anticipation on D. I also saw him diving on the floor for loose balls. He looked plenty athletic, tough, and quick enough to stay in front of Big Ten guards. (But not a lot of defensive highlights are shown on any transfer highlight videos.) I would hazard a guess that he's at least as effective on D as Adam Miller. K Davis is younger, and he appears to be more athletic. How athletic is Davis? Can he stay in front of BigTen guards? Is he a lock down defender?
Disgusting, but very believable.
You might want to leave out my feet pics, otherwise we might have to ask the players to donate money to us.I can't believe you guys are being so selfish and spending other donors money. Open an only fans and start selling pictures your feet. We have a roster to fill out.
Unfortunately, we’re in neither first nor second tier.I see a lot more final four and elite 8 teams in that second tier…

I mean I'm just reacting to a few highlight videos but that's enough to see that he's pretty explosive. You think he is more athletic than AJ Storr?
I don't know if anyone else can do what Painter is doing. And he's had a long, long run at Purdue. A long leash. I am not patient, but I think patience is a virtue. I admire what Painter is accomplishing. There is, as always, more than one way to skin a cat. Painter has his way. Maybe our coach will find his, soon.... all credit to Painter for pulling it off.
Jack Benny? Damn I'm old...Nope still 39...
I mean what’s the realistic chance Illinois gets someone like him over the blue bloods? These players don’t come to Illinois usually.Disgusting, but very believable.
