As disappointed as I think the majority of us would be to come up 0/2 here I don't see very many of us having that reaction. And we're the lunatic fringe of the Illinois football fanbase.

It's fair to criticize the loss and I'm sure the staff would reflect on the resources expended (if they lose them). Even if the staff doesn't get either of Sutter and Anderson, this class is much, much better than any previous class since at least peak Zook. It's also possible a swing-and-miss on these two could free up funds to flip someone before '26 signing day.
This 2026 class is the step forward the program needs.

I guess Eberhart is our last big target remaining right now? Cabel looks to be gone as well.
while it’s fair to assume we lose both , I don’t think we know for sure yet . recruiting is fluid and either lad may still pick us , AND nothing in college football is forever anymore .

As hot as UI is right now, until there is multiple 9-10 win seasons strung together fans need to have low expectations when SEC schools come calling for these recruits.
Doesn't diminish what Bert is doing right now, he is setting UI up for flipping those expectations in a few years. For now though? Happy being the underdog and stealing from the big boys when they can be stolen from. One day they'll get their comeuppance.

if it was “over” , it would have been leaked by now . the lad may have made his decision, but doubtful anyone but him and his folks know for sure . doubtful any coaches know for sure right now . things change . coaches can’t discuss it publicly anyway .

I mean lets face it we do still have a full week to turn the tide (July 1st). That's a ton of time in FB recruiting. Depends on truly how strong the Ole Miss buzz is. Obviously can't totally be a done deal.
Would be quite the deal if he were to indeed come back for another unofficial.
