Question is how do they use him. I think he’s already only 3 under career for IP, and that was two years ago. He’s already thrown over 50 more innings than he threw last year.I think Horton will be fine in the 2nd half.

Seems like Shaw has lost the swagger he came back from AAA with in May. PCA really struggled last June and July too. Maybe it will still click for him at some point. The Shaw situation- love his defense, love his speed… the hitting is a big problem. At this point he is lost and almost an automatic out.
I’ve never seen a hitter at the major leagues level as lost. Mario Mendoza might give him a run for his money. It’s time to get him more seasoning in the minors. I have faith that he will be a good ball player. Just not this year.
I just worry about the innings. He’s never thrown more than 88 in a season, even going back to his college days. He’s at 56 already. Another month of 5 innings every 5 days and he’s in uncharted territory for his arm.I think Horton will be fine in the 2nd half.
He’s at 85.2 overall for year. The 56 is only at MLB level.I just worry about the innings. He’s never thrown more than 88 in a season, even going back to his college days. He’s at 56 already. Another month of 5 innings every 5 days and he’s in uncharted territory for his arm.
Yes he will be. We need a starter but a starter that has years left on a contract or under control. If Assad would ever get healthy, he could be a back of the rotation guy. Flexen started just to buy time tonight. Taillon hopefully will be back by mid august. We have managed so far with 3/5ths of our rotation out for a significant amount of time.I just worry about the innings. PCA was below average until after the All Star break last year, then he broke out. He played defense from day one.Wanted: a real 3B
on track to win 96 gamesLove sitting at the All Star break at 57-39. What a ride this season has been. Tons of baseball left and a lot could go good or bad, but such a fun year so far. Excited to see where it goes.
I think they’ll do something at 3B. I have my doubts that it will be Suarez or even someone close to that level though. I’ve mentioned Sosa on WSox, but there have to be other guys like him available, hopefully who play better defense than Sosa. Surprised they haven’t been giving Long more time at 3B (think he’s played there 7 games this season) unless he is just terrible there. Though I think he is a strong candidate to be traded for pitching.on track to win 96 games
that normally wins a division , or gets you into a wild card position
they do need another arm that they can slot into a 3 or 4 spot in the rotation . really missing Steele .
not sure what can be done about 3rd base . I guess stick with Shaw and just bat him 8th or 9th. sucks to not have a good bat at that position . I guess PCA makes up for it
Suarez's is 34 and his contract is up at the end of the season, so he'd be a true rental. Arizona is 5.5 games back of the last WC spot and 4th in their own division. Any owner in that position should be looking toward next season. I see no reason why the Cubs should not go after Suarez. He shouldn't require a haul.I think they’ll do something at 3B. A starter will be needed until JT comes back. I think a RH 1B with power will be another piece to get. I am ok with Shaw at 3rd as he makes plays. He does not have the Kris Bryant brain fart IQ we had to put up with when he was here. I am hoping this time off and the break, he can get back to hitting fundamentals where he can be an asset. If we can get Suarez, he could also play 1st to give Busch a breather. He is a rental though.on track to win 96 games

His age and being a rental will not cost the Cubs much. I would only entertain trading for a starter if he can be controlled and not a rental.Suarez's is 34 and his contract is up at the end of the season, so he'd be a true rental. The cubs do not need a 1b. Busch is above average and an excellent defender. And, for those who say he can’t hit lefties, he’s done fine against lefties the last couple of weeks.A starter will be needed until JT comes back. I didn’t say the Cubs shouldn’t go after him. I said I don’t think they will (or at least won’t get him). Plus, not sure what you mean by “shouldn’t require a haul,” but I think people are underestimating what it will take to get him. I’m not sure what other hitters will be available, but Suarez will be one of the top ones if not THE top one so there will be plenty of competition.Suarez's is 34 and his contract is up at the end of the season, so he'd be a true rental. Arizona is 5.5 games back of the last WC spot and 4th in their own division. Any owner in that position should be looking toward next season. I see no reason why the Cubs should not go after Suarez. What do you think it takes to realistically get Suarez? I could see Jonathon Long + a major league bullpen arm.Suarez's is 34 and his contract is up at the end of the season, so he'd be a true rental. I thought the reports are that he was cut because he can't play third any more due to back problems.DJ LeMahieu is right there for the taking…3rd base…
The author and his editor should be put in adjoining padded rooms to even seriously suggest that.Unfortunately, we may be bidding against the Yankees. So - that may push the price higher.
I could only laugh at this one, though.
