Meh, Big Ten road win when our best player was sidelined. The 2005 team had multiple road wins where we let absolutely terrible teams hang around like Purdue and Michigan, but we never broke and got the W. That’s what we did today.
This

The E8 team lost to an 80ish PSU team in meltdown fashion and beat a worse KP team (oakland) by about the same amount......but at home. uninspiring games are to happen as these are young men.

I'm sure everyone in this thread absolutely crushes it at work every single minute of every day though

This isn’t just calling you out … It’s calling out this whole attitude in general …

These dudes are making 7 figures plus … These aren’t kids … These are professionals who are paid to do a job …

And it’s not just an organization paying these guys … It’s your friend, your neighbor, your co worker … People who work hard and decide to take that hard earned money and give it to the program to field a better team …

If the guys receiving that money aren’t playing to the standard … Deserves to be called out …

And I don’t understand why everyone is so against people doing it … Back when it was the back door payments, sure we can play pretend that these guys aren’t getting anything and are still kids … Not the case anymore …

Lol....you can't say anything basketball related about a player without someone turning it into an "attack", "hate", or reminding us all how wonderful a person they are.

Color me underwhelmed but thankful that Wagler can get his "freshman" foul performance out of his system against a D-2 (/s) opponent on a neutral court -- to be clear, I don't agree with the at least 2 of those fouls, but am not surprised that the PSU non-home game is where it happened. Kudos to the PSU fans that still showed despite their DIA choosing to defer a home game to a neutral site where the commentators gushed more about Penn than the "home" team.... what a joke on both ends

Absolutely that will change … I was commenting on the coaches looking at film and deciding to change something …

I don’t expect anything to change schematically…
Fact of the matter is… schematically things do change when he plays. The shot quality is just night and day. Much less bad threes, more in rhythm, ball movement, etc… just rewatch the time in the first half when he came back after picking up 2.

We didn’t have our best player for half the game, and in the time he did play - just 20 minutes - we won by 17 points (which is nuts).

-Seems like Tomi is playing name on jerseys than his game. He will be fine.

-I love the offense, when shots don't fall, it takes heat because all people see is one ball screen and pass to who is open and they are open. I think they could add a little more action to our high ball screens. Not running anything for a guy like Andrej is a disservice. Get him on an Iverson cut. You can get him advantage one on one there, set up back screens, pick and rolls, high lows on and on.

-I don't think they push the ball enough. I think Mirk has the potential to be an elite outlet passer. I don't think they sprint hard enough, they don't get wide or deep and they don't look for the ball. One time they pushed hard and Andrej was right to the rim.

Speaking of… was he not on the bench tonight? He seems to travel and be involved in every game. Did not see him. Doc appointment? illness? Anyone have knowledge of the situation
Also was thinking the same thing late in the 2nd half but assumed I missed him somewhere since nobody else pointed it out. Maybe he wasn’t there?

3 pages of post-game and not one comment about Mirk? I’ll do it. This guy has IT. He is able to create no matter what he is doing and he is scrapping for rebounds on nearly every possession. I only watched the last 30 minutes of game time , but he would be my MVP…
Crazy. Kid is a stud and is always mixing it up. Really excited for his future, as I think he still plays a little sped up, but the effort rarely slumps.

We shot terribly and were never really in trouble on the road in the B1G.

I’m not going to get too excited either way. We were supposed to win. We won. On to the next.

0 pts
2 reb
0 assists
In 17 minutes

That’s brutal.
He’s got to lose the beard.

Year in and year out this happens with every good team. I’m not sure why every year people forget this. Not every game is going to look amazing. Pretty comfortable road win at the end of the day.

Any win over psu is great..............
Any win with highknees-low skills ref jeff is great..........
Any win with Paul Selzc reffing is great................
Any win with Waglar limited to half a game by fouls is great.......
Any conference road win is great........

Illini record :

season 11-3
B$G 2-1

Big Z the blocking machine........his arm length is freaky...............Tomi needs to shave that funky beard off.....he hasn't played good since he started being hairy.......Mirko-man with a double-double........

Flush this crappy game and prepare for rutgers...............I have no idea what kind of team they have , but I do kinow they have an overrated coach who does less with more talent than any coach in the NCAA.......

I’d like to see Tomi and Mirk switch roles on offense. More Tomi in pick and pop and distributing to slashers (Andrej) and the top of the key. More Mirk back to the basket.

Not against anyone doing anything, just my take on his saying Tomi is awful.

So yeah, easy...

I'd like to believe that the Tomi from last year is still there. After a quick Google search, here's another excuse ;)
Yes, while most people recover from mono in a few weeks, significant fatigue and other symptoms can linger for several months,
Yep, I got mono in my senior year at UIUC and was working for six months until I started to get going again.

It’s hard for Tomi to do much when they were doubling any post touch. I was happy they got the win against a young scrappy team at a place nobody has ever played before. Sometimes you aren’t going to score 90+ as a team. I will say that Andrej shooting form is horrible from three, just not a great shooter but hopefully he starts taking advantage of driving the hoop more to get to the line. A weird game but a road win is a road win in the B1G! Go Illini! And long live the chief!

The looney toons are really out tonight is it a full moon or something? The Tomi takes are nuts set the torches and pitchforks down and take a lap

it’s ok, i would say normal, to see concerning trends with this team and that performance. we all love the illini, and i think many of us see another disappointing march.
i just posted about how good underwood has been in the big ten; speaking for myself, that is not good enough. i want a final four. we have had very little success in march since i became obsessed in the early 90s as a kid.

Michigan is going to cruise to a national championship unless they have an injury.

We aren't competing with them for the Big10 or a national title. They are the best team in the country and I don't think anyone else is particularly close.
