Firstly, none of us are getting paid 100,000+ dollars plus a free ride at the U of I plus room and board for playing basketball. Like it or not, choosing the path of Power 5 conference NCAA basketball player comes with more public scrutiny than your average job. When you're an NCAA assistant coach, and you're making hundreds of thousands of dollars, that also comes with more public pressures that most of our work places aren't associated with. With the rewards comes public pressure. This
The E8 team lost to an 80ish PSU team in meltdown fashion and beat a worse KP team (oakland) by about the same amount......but at home. uninspiring games are to happen as these are young men.
I'm sure everyone in this thread absolutely crushes it at work every single minute of every day though
Secondly, the idea you're suggesting that we need to be Fortune 500 CEOs or chair of the board before we're morally permitted to critique the NCAA basketball team that we're fans of is flat out comical. Get out of here with that nonsense.
Thirdly, if you read people's criticisms, they aren't just of this one game. They are of negative patterns that have repeated themselves. For example, our coaches' ineptitude at implementing effective out of bounds plays since Coach Gentry left. Also, our team's ineffectiveness at offensive fundamentals like setting and utilizing screens.
