I'm not sure that we attacked the zone differently than we did with Minnesota, its just we made our outside shots this time..And once Maryland switched back to a man to man defense, it was over

(Not a hot Boswell take - we need that dude)

But, against a zone. I really do think we got some more dribble drive penetration because Jake in the corner. We definitely hit more shots, but I think the spacing was much better - that said Maryland isn’t nearly as lengthy as Minnesota.

At worst, I hope these two games prepared us further for anything we might see later on

I honestly think Big Z is a 1st round material and tell me why he didn't play more? (Understand the foul situation this game. )

Espn had him on their top 100 prospects list for 2026, although down at 95. I'm not sure what the knock on him is --at 7'2" and 37% 3 point shooting he checks a couple important boxes.
Tomi passes well and seems beefier in post defense, but Z is pretty good with his length and hands. Z is definitely giving good minutes and making an impact.

Moving Mirk into the middle of that zone seemed to work really well. He's a good passer and he also will turn and make that 10-foot shot (even if he has to bank it in :) ).

At the risk of being the guy who complains about people complaining about Petrovic more than people actually complain about Petrovic, it's just bizarre that we have the literal number 1 offense in the country and we're still talking about why a guy who misses shots, turns the ball over, and doesn't try defensively isn't playing more.

Petrovic gets zero PT in the second half?? Arms folded, slouched on his chair. Why is he not getting any run with Boswell out? He’s probably ready to head back home to get cheap vodka and hang with his girl.

He’s awful defensively … And to be honest we really don’t need what he brings … Who’s he playing over ?? Even with Bam out … Our other guards are better … Lee is better …

Step 1 of playing for Brad … Don’t be awful defensively …

Mistakes are allowed but not all the time … Every time Petro is on the floor he’s lost defensively or out of position … It’s unacceptable …

100% this!!! Not only is he lost, he has moments that he just totally mails it in on D.
He’s gotten some better since the beginning of the year but he just acts like a guy who has very little interest in playing D.

My question is how do we not foresee this on film? I mean he's got 5 years of film playing overseas... was the mindset "get him on campus and we'll teach him how to defend/care"?

2 techs = 4 fouls.

His lack of minutes yesterday were squarely on his bad decisions, ESPECIALLY the last one. It was a completely ridiculous play. Those decisions could cost his team a game down the road. Hopefully, that message was conveyed by Brad.
I think Z did what he did because he saw Maryland playing dirty and he was standing up for his guys and I support him.

Yeah, there's a difference between struggling to guard in individual matchups versus lack of understanding and coverage mistakes that impact the whole team.

But like, Petro has been a professional basketball player for years, it really surprises me to see how he's struggling to pick up the nuances of the game. Maybe he's too used to a different style whereas a Mirkovic is younger and can learn it without having to un-learn something else?

We will be a lot better off if we can get Petro going. We are massively over-dependent on hero ball by an 18 year old, heroic as that 18 year old has played.

Brandon Lee just doesn’t appear to be 6’4”. Is it the camera man?

Where are those hot takes on AS? No defense... Not worth his NIL.... So disappointing....eh?

**** Crickets, crickets ****
Yes - that whole debate seemed in the category of "we've won 7 in a row, who can we complain about". I thought it was clear he wasn't scoring much for a couple of games, because we didn't need him to, we're asking him to play a different role than his previous teams. But he's been a highly efficient scorer all year shooting 52% on the year which is a huge improvement from his previous stops where he had to be a high volume scorer.

Last night he scored 30 points on 18 shots! He's stepping up with Kylan out which is great to see. I don't think he'll make 4 threes every game, but we don't need him to - if he rebounds, plays tough D and gets to the rim on offense, he'll be terrific for us and those are the aspects of his game that I think we can count on

Are we sure on the 4 fouls? I don't think a flagrant foul equals 2 fouls? Could be wrong but I think he ended up with 3 for the game right? Yes I went and checked and Z had 3 total fouls for the game. Flagrant fouls (at least F1) for sure do not count as 2 fouls. BU may have been sending a message, but the concern of fouling out was not his issue?
