Who ever set up the last second defense should walk home. How do you let a guy drive the whole court without every challenging him.

Because they can run baseline after a made basket do you are just wasting a defender.
I think this goes away after a timeout you. I dont believe you can after a timeout. And still you could put a quicker player on them if the do run it.

It’s more how we lost than that we lost that has people upset.
... yeah? Aren't both things important?

You beat me to it. We were 7 of 11 at one point and 6 of 31 after that. It's how you get a 23 point lead, then lose a 23 point lead. We were 15 of 27 in the paint.

I know Brad is a metrics guy, but this can't happen.
I love what Brad does for us, but this was just a terrible loss that he has to do something to stop of 14/16 shot run. That just can’t happen.

Tomi, Mirk, and Wagler 2-15 combined from 3. Can’t have your top 3 scorers shoot like that and expect a win.
Yeah Wagler was especially off from 3 compared to what we are used to. Maybe he does have tired legs after all.
Anyway six days off to recover then beat meatchicken and the rest of the regular season games we have left and we are in good shape

Underwood and his defense. PATHETIC. Ucla scored less than 60 points in their consecutive losses against Michigan and MichiganSt. This is the most points UCLA has scored all year against a quality opponent. You can't when at a high level with this team because of their lack of athleticism, soft and PATHEIC DEFENSE. I told you guys SWEET16 at best. Underwood always preaches no 2's but they give up a 2 at the buzzard. The foreign players are way too inconsistent on offense and defense.

What’s inexcusable is Mirk showing up for a game and then taking the next two off. Same with Tomi.

I'm sure you old timers on here remember the controversy over the '84 Rose Bowl football team going to the Playboy Mansion and nightclubs and partying too much before the game and basically being hungover during the game. I wonder if this basketball team just did the same thing, since we played USC the other day and probably just stayed in LA since arriving there before that game. We DID look tired after the first 10-15 minutes of the first half and let them make a 33-10 game a close game, plus a lot of our 3s were hitting the front of the rim, which usually happens due to players being tired.

I know, I'm reaching, but with the NIL, these players have money that the Rose Bowl team that partied didn't have. That team went and partied like the world was ending. So who's to say our boys, the ones that DO have money, didn't do the same thing?

Don't flame me too much, I'm just trying to make sense of this disaster...

I guess I don’t know the play, but it certainly seemed straight line drive all the way.

And just because it’s hard to pull off, doesn’t mean that should be the result lol. I always like a trap in that situation, and if the secondary guy hits a rushed open 25-30 footer, it is what it is.
No you're right that was the play. It was just go downhill and take a layup or flop for a foul. I'm saying it wasn't that creative on Cronin's part.

When defending that you've gotta make them go side to side for at least some of the strides. We didn't do that. There's a difference between playing smart and playing tentative and I don't think brad has taught our guys that.

No it's not. His guys failed and his guys fully understand that.
I am a huge Brad Underwood fan. He got outcoached tonight. We got beat off the dribble consistently and we did not make the right adjustments which is why David M. wound up in foul trouble.

I really hope that if we get in that spot again we put someone on the inbounds passer. If you arent going to defend Dent or guards closely because you are afraid of fouling you can at least make the in bounds pass difficult with Andre or someone. A tipped pass ends the game. We wouldnt foul them and at least that is some resistance.
This was my issue with it. 4.9 seconds is WAY too much time when you're giving a clear path to inbound the ball. There was clearly a fear of fouling and rightfully so.

Why are those the two alternatives in your mind? We should have won tonight, period. It was our failure to lose. It’s not a choice of losing in OT or getting blown out.

I saw the response to the post of “repeatedly losing in overtime games”.

Certainly should have won tonight. But felt that a lot more about the 11 straight field goals UCLA ripped off in the first half and horrific end to the half.

Sadly, before the dent take. I thought we had taken a step forward in learning when Wagler drove instead of settling.
