WAGLER IS THE WORST PLAYER ON THE TEAM AND WE SHOULD BE STARTING FAGBEMI OVER HIM

We had them by 20 and then got overconfident and let down thinking this was going to be easy. And when we did, we let them believe. You must never let an underdog start to believe. Figuratively speaking, you have to put a stake in their heart.

Brad didn't even bother to get off the bench most of the game. He should have been chewing arse in the first half when we started playing with zero effort.
Couldn't agree with you more. Where was the emotion from our entire bench? Pitiful. Push and be positive doing it.

Up 33-10. Got outscored 85-61 the rest. We have them confidence and they thrived on it.

5 of 15 overall shooting and 1 of 6 from three. 19 points on 15 shots is wildly inefficient and can't happen.

His turnover right before the end of the first half can't happen either. That whole play was a mess.

However, he did other things well, as you noted.

There were a lot of issues tonight over the last 29 minutes. If there was a true player of the game for the losing side, it would have been Ben H.
Huh? I’m almost certain was Mirkovic.

Lost a 1 point OT road game Q1 to a team much in a similar vein to MSU, where fouls were touchy and the other team was basically allowed to beat the ever loving crap out of the Illini starters, to the point where 4 of them had to leave the game for a bit to tend to various injuries.
All fine and fair. But it’s NOT unreasonable to expect to not blow a 23-point lead. It IS reasonable to be concerned and upset when we do blow a 23-point lead. And it’s certainly unreasonable for anyone here to gaslight posters who are upset we blew a 23-point lead into thinking they’re just hysterical and disloyal, lol.

So why don’t you just let people vent after a loss? It’s already been made illegal to critique after a win, now it’s equally offensive to gripe after a loss.

Just can’t miss any chance to poke at people, maybe those accusing others of being miserable should look in the mirror.

unfortunately he had a very cold night shooting the ball. his putback that almost won us the the game notwithstanding
3-5 when high major basketball teams make 10+ threes against us.

Not saying I disagree with the strategy of selling out to stop high percentage shots at the rim, but this is the risk against a competent shooting team.

I think the biggest thing (or maybe the smallest / easiest thing) we should've done differently is go to the rim more in the 2nd half. Had them in the bonus. We were getting down hill pretty easy. Our threes were short across the board for the last 35 minutes. Yet we kept settling for them.

I get that's who we are but just one more drive instead of hoisting a three could've been all we needed.
We scored 86 points in regulation. That wins 97% of all games - that was the worst defense we have played since Nebraska at home. We don't need to rotate when we are getting beat off the dribble - we can try to block the drive at the rim but when we rotate - than all the match ups leave wide open 3s and baseline lobs that we get when other teams rotate against us.

We would have been much better off either going zone or straight up MTM.

Yeah Keaton's shoulder, Kylan's face, Tomi's hammy, can't remember the fourth.
Mirk took a nasty elbow to the back of the head but I think he kept playing. Maybe that's why he didn't have one of his better games. Might have started their big 1st half comeback in the first half along with Keaton going to the locker room for a while.

Keaton was literally grabbed by two players on every drive to the basket and hardly got any calls. Welcome to BT play

As someone pointed out earlier in the thread, they could run the baseline on that inbounds so putting (and keeping) someone on the passer would have been tough and that player would be useless on D after that
Other than Z at the rim everyine looked pretty useless. A tipped ball at least could end the game or at lesst throw the t8ming off. That crap was too easy.

As someone pointed out. Defended the same as Tenn. Last year with the same pathtic result. Cqnt do the same thing a third time if this happens.

Here’s where I place blame for the final defensive possession.

Most: Kylan
Late to his gap to the point where he can’t even properly defend without fouling so he has to just kind of escort Dent through the gap. He gets to his spot and Dent has to go around and put up a tough midrange.

Some: Drej and Z
Drej needed to do a better job of being physical IMO. Z probably needed to put a better contest on it. Both are hindsight though and didn’t totally hate eithers defense.

None: Keaton and Ben
Keaton got screened out of the play and Ben’s role is to contest a kick so he can’t collapse.

You should’ve put 2 guys on dent and try to deny him the ball. Instead we have 5 guys standing around doing nothing after calling a timeout. Totally outclassed. Cronin had to laughing at how bad the defense was

When Mirk, Tomi, Andre and Keaton go 2 of 18 from 3 then maybe drive the ball instead of taking a 28 footer up 1 early in the clock. I know Keaton has some huge shots and Andre has shot it better lately. Late in the clock fine but not early in that spot when we are getting to the line. Keaton and Sndre were doing great getting to the line and i wish i had seem more from them and Boz
This is my gripe as well. Just because they are "good looks," some nights - and some points within a game - they are just not falling. Why can we not adjust and go to a different strategy at those points in a game? Tomi has looked really good posting up in some games, and they did not have any real physical down low presence to bother him. Run Z on the baseline a few more times down the floor; we did it twice for two dunks. Use our height for stretches when the threes are not falling.
