NBA Draft

close to 0 bc top 4 is consensus. i do think wagler will be top 3 player in the draft but gms dont like to make risky moves. he will gone by 6. 5 most likely.
Pretty much what I was thinking. Guess there’s always a remote chance given Wagler is “qualified” and has Illini ties, but it does feel like the top 4 are locked in except for the specific order.

Stats comparison of the "Big 4" point guards:

What stands out with Wagler is that OREB%.
His "Hakeem Pct" stat is interesting as well. This stat measures defensive disruption (the percentage a possession ends with a steal or a block by the player).

This is surprising considering he played on the team that defensively had the lowest turnover and steal % in all of D-1 college basketball.

I also felt obliged to comment on this one since I had to Google what it was (actually Google wouldn't even come up with anything, I had to look this one up with ChatGPT).

Latest ESPN mock draft (post-lottery) has Bulls taking Caleb Wilson at #4 and Wagler going to the Clippers at #5. They also have Kentucky C Jayden Quaintance, who only played 4 games this season, going to Chicago at #15. They also have Boswell going to the Bulls late in the 2nd round.
That would be a typical pick for the Bulls @15 if true...hopefully doesn't happen...

Still only 18 years old. Huge upside. Gotta be very confident with the medicals though.

You kinda figure he's unlikely to go at 15, either doctors will like what they see and he goes higher or they don't like what they see and he falls.

BG not necessarily tied to Giddey. Think that Wagler would get plenty of opportunity to show his orchestration skills.
The Bulls had better not overcomplicate just taking whoever of the clear top 4 falls to them.

The Bulls have the easiest pick in the top 5. Just wait for whichever of the top 4 falls to you and call their name.

The only way it gets even remotely complicated is if one of the top 3 makes an incredibly stupid pick and you get to choose from 2 of the top 4.

He was really good as a 17-year-old freshman (7.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game...at 17 years old), and even with the injury could probably have gone top-10 in the 2025 draft if it wasn't for the fact he was too young to be eligible. Makes a lot more sense for that #15 pick for the Bulls, a team that is not in any likely scenario competing for anything next season, to take a swing on a young high upside guy like Quaintance than to go for something safe.

Yes for one year 1991 that was Durham last year on Bulls radio I think
Wow! Just that one year? I'm pretty sure I never saw his playing days. When I was a kid, Artis Gilmore was my favorite player on the Bulls.

Tied to Giddey or no, PG is probably the position at which they have the most depth and talent. There is absolutely no need for them to over-think it. Take whichever of the top 4 are left, and worry about what you want at 15 based on complimenting whichever elite prospect just landed in your lap.

All of the parts of this process that aren't delivering under pressure in 5-on-5 basketball with stakes on the outcome are going to tend to reward the guys other than Wagler, be ready for that.

Honestly, you could sense some of the claims about Wagler's length and wingspan in scouting circles were arising from a sort of "how can we possibly explain this impossible performance level from this three-star recruit no one knew about? Oh, I know, he's secretly super long, that's how he's doing it"

Acuff measured better than expected. 6'2 barefoot and 6'7 wingspan.

I think this gives him a good chance to take the 5th spot over Keaton but it's either or. can't go wrong with this choices. Keatons size, poise, shooting and decision making vs the unreal explosiveness and scoring of Acuff.

The problem with drafting Acuff at 5 if you’re LA is that you’re kinda drafting Darius Garland 2.0 to eventually be better than Darius Garland down the line. Just too much overlap there.

Wagler has a lot more on/off ball versatility.

Wagler's measurements are a bit unfortunate. I hope it doesn't hurt him- but his lack of explosion and being 6'5 instead of 6'6, and only a 6'6.25 wingspan- isn't ideal

agreed with that and heard that's why Keaton is perfect for them. heard clippers could move this pick as well. or try and get into the top 4 but I doubt that happens.

side note: I didn't realize Acuff shot so well last year

Is this going to be like that LSU OT a few years ago where there was a huge debate on draft position because his arms were 34 7/8 “ instead of 35”?
