Quentin Coleman on the USA U18 National Team

Anyone familiar with the Canadian team? Anyone on that team who either Illinois recruited or is committed to any USA colleges? In other words, any good players? Also, there is a place on the official website to choose an MVP. I didn’t do it yet, as I wasn’t sure if one had to wait until all the games are played, so I don’t know how it works.

The site said that the Group portion is over, and allowed me to vote for QC for MVP.

Surprisingly QC is only 1% for this vote (you can click the link and vote, I think).

It's apparently only for the group phase, so might be an outdated entry.

I really like that Coleman sprinted back to defend after the dunk.

I really like that a lot. He is playing very hard for himself and his future coaches.

I know they're highlights, but his aggression reminds me of TSJ. Looks to go go go and isn't afraid of potential contact going to the rim. Defenders in the BIG I expect to be much better, so we'll see how well it translates when he gets into the season.

Going off 247 composite, this time last year, he was ranked outside the top 200.
By January, up to 84.
April, 27th
May, ranked 17th and 13th by the site itself.

I hope folks don't compare him to Keaton, but the upward trajectory so far is pretty amazing.

Two stats:

Coleman only needs 2pts and 3rebs in the final game to become the second USA player ever to average a double double for the event.

He also only needs 4 rebounds to have the most rebounds per game by a USA player in the history of the event.

He currently leads all players regardless of country/team in rebounds per game.
This is completely insane.

Terrance is 6”6 220 and Coleman is 6”4 190. Pretty significant difference.

If you look at their top scorers most are in college already.

Illini looked at Ahrens: https://illiniguys.com/keds-recruit...ns-updates-recent-official-visit-at-illinois/

But my recollection was the staff backed off after the visit

Aside from his rebounding, what’s impressed me most about QC is the off ball movement.

Looks like a guy who could easily get 2-3 layups a game off of backcuts / passes from top of the key from Tomi and Mirk.
