College Sports (Basketball)

I just don't understand how putting an age limit is enforceable. For example, if someone joins the armed forces after high school, because they couldn't afford college, or just wanted to get some structure. Then at 22 they decide to go to college and are ineligible?
Two of my brothers joined the Air Force out of high school, then played college ball after they got out--one at SIUE and the other JUCO. I think there's an exception for like Mormon missions, maybe there's another for military.

And what about incarceration? I assume Michigan State keeps an eye out for players from those institutions.

There are exceptions for religious missions, military service and pregnancy.

They've got 6 more days
Estrella just announced he is staying, despite getting there last week. Cadeau, McKinney, and Thiam have also reaffirmed their commitment. At this point, I'd assume they won't lose anyone who is going to greatly impact their chances of doing something special this year.
While the timing wasn't ideal, the fact that most guys are already working out together probably works in their favor to a significant extent.

Hear me out: this is a good thing. I want them to be good next year. Great even. It’ll force Michigan to remove the interim tag on Boynton. I’ll let them have another good year for a few bad ones.

we want them to extend him and then him to fail... leaving Michigan in a much worse position later. how we get there does matter. momentum is a thing.

1. ideal situation.... they get off to a hot start, he gets extended. they finish decent in the big ten (maybe top 4) but that's it. he flops from there.
2. he has a bad year, they don't extend they make a bad hire. ok maybe this is ideal but another good situation.
3. they have a good year. top 3 in big ten and make it to sweet 16 but because of an easy draw. extend. he flops from there. still pretty good
4. they have a good year make it to sweet 16/ elite 8 but he still flops. the juwan. still good.
5. he has a decent year but they don't extend and get a good coach. not ideal.
6. he is good and the bus keeps rolling. terrible.

these are the scenarios I'm seeing from best to worst

Mike Boynton orchestrated arguably the best defense in college basketball history

mike boynton never even had a top 30 defense at ok st

avg kenpom defense rank of 61

made 1 ncaa tourney in 7 seasons

missed the nit 4 times in 7 seasons

51-75 b12 record

defense probably had more to do with mara and johnson jr than a mike boynton midas touch

Oh here we go again, Devil's Advocate #1 back at it with more Michigan man love

Then you wouldn’t mind handing the reins over to Tyler Underwood next year as he orchestrated arguably the best offense in college basketball history.
??? I've NEVER made a negative comment regarding Tyler running our offense. We have the best offensive system in the country (NBA scouts will probably tell you the same thing).

Strawman... He didn't say you did

What he said was that you'd be okay with handing the head coaching job to Tyler this season based on your assessment of Mike Boynton (and it was a question rather than a statement... just couldn't help but notice you did the strawman thing rather than just answer the question)

I think they're trying to cap the amount of European pros that are seen

But also, I doubt the 19 age limit stands
If 19 is the start with 5 in 5 then those guys could still play to their 24.

I don't really see how that stops the European pros coming off because most of them are 20-23 years old.
