Definitely odd. I wonder if teams start forcing coaches to sign something different when they retire than the current release.

pretty sure you are joking

it more likely that full retirement wasn’t all that great & his wife told him to get out & do something to better pass the time . Once he was coaching again he realized he missed it and when the spot opened up , bingo

He was still on the staff even after he retired. LA has a lot of talent coming up in the program. The game with Mt Carmel should be a good one.

Denny's serving poached eggs
Probably not a big surprise to see Denny looking at some of his co-workers. Seems like a promotion for Taursini, so best of luck to him. When you have a really good athletic department, your good people will be sought after.

Not a surprise at all, such poaching is very common across all fields when a boss leaves.

Was much more just an opportunity for a bad breakfast pun to my immature mind. :)

Did anyone ever follow-up on the Partridge situation and what actually happened? Did he verbally accept the Illini DC job and then change his mind and Bret pivoted to Hauck?

Did Whitman/Bret get word he was going to sue Michigan in Spring 2026 and they decided against hiring him?

Was that all a rumor that he was a canidate but Bret wanted Hauck all along?

Partridge filed the lawsuit on March 11, 2026.

I missed these:

Gotta love it, they don't even photoshop his Illini gear out:

Let the new DC speculation begin
A decision NC State may regret.

My favorite stat about them: NC State football has both won and lost at least 3 games in every season since 1975.

There's not another Power Five school with a streak anywhere even close to that. Mid U.
