I am in love with these new helmets. I'm actually excited to watch the football team now.

From a Herald-Review article about the new uniforms, the offensive, defensive and special teams players of the game will get a victory shield sticker to put on the back of their helmet.

“We’ll utilize that,” Beckman said, pointing to the shield’s prominent position on the neck of the football uniforms. “If you’re the offense, defense or special teams player of the game, you’ll get a victory shield sticker to put on the back of your helmet.”

Thanks for the info. I'm surprised they didn't change or update that in any way. I was hoping there was some tie-in with Alma coming back last week and having her prominently displayed on the back, but I knew that was a stretch.

I'm a little confused by the fact that the white men's jersey's have the two-tone lettering, but the women's jerseys are orange lettering with the blue outline. Wish that would have been more consistent.

They're different because they let each coach have a say in the design of their team's uniform.

you can go to Nike design and build your own uniform online in about 30 minutes or so..I did for the freshman team I coach in high school.. I did not order but its fun to play around with and very easy..

I like the positioning of the block I on the shorts, its different a unique even if a little out of place. I cant see the flying lighting bolt feathers lasting more then this upcoming season so we can relax its not primary or secondary etc.

They look like high school uniforms because...well because that's what almost every high school uniform looks like!

I get the feeling that the only reason people like those more than our new ones is because they say "fighting illini" on them. Not because overall they are esthetically pleasing.

Have gotten multiple texts from national cfb writers (SB Nation, Bleacher Report and CBS Sports) who said Illinois hit a home run with these (football ones...basketball isn't my thing).

Best text was from a buddy at SBN who said "Illinois' are sweet and Cuse certainly did them a favor by showing their terrible work 1st"

I agree. Would've looked much better with the same stripe down the side of the b-ball uni's as there are down the side of the football ones .
