Think the staff also has had a little trouble evaluating the current roster. BU's comments on how the team "makes shots in practice", calling Finke an "elite shooter" and really talking-up Mark Smith as so hugely improved are some examples. All understandable given how they were coming in fresh...
Here's how. Everyone plays their best game at the same time. We get good Leron, Nebraska Finke, last 6 games Trent, Northwestern Alstork, early season AJ & Mark, etc. Would be shocking, but most big upsets are.
If he's a plus plus shooter there's a place for him in that lineup.
If he can be that shooter, I'd imagine him in a role like Luke Hancock from Louisville a couple of years ago. 6'6" not much of a rebounder or defender, but could play forward and score from 3.
Cliffmass/Snider was the clear apex of that mountain of crazy. :hailtotheorange:
I'd be surprised if the same type of nonsense follows this staff. They seem much more grounded, professional and calm. In hindsight, I think of much of that frenzy as a symptom of the last staff's...
I'm so pumped about this hire. The style of play, the coaching tree, the results.
Give Jamal a raise, keep the class together, get Smith & find a big somewhere to round it out.
I assume he can sit in on practices as long as we win in the NIT? He wouldn't want to change style of play, but...
It's a borderline blue blood--but seems like they've developed some expectations that will make it a hard place to succeed. Are coaches interested in getting into no win situations like IU? I think he's a crappy coach--but he did with the B1G just last year.
The point of that sentence is that this is a single sourced story. You actually think the source is from Illinois? Very unlikely--no reason to talk to a reporter if you really didn't get who you wanted.
That leaves a Miznoz source or someone from Martin's camp--both of which would be highly...
I know they all seemed horrible at the time but Snyder is doing a great job in the NBA, Amaker has taken Harvard to new heights, Alford has shown himself to be very good since he left Iowa.
