I admit I am surprised by this rash of offers. I think there's going to be an epic round of creaning in the offseason.

This is why I rarely like to point fingers at rival programs when they're not actually breaking any rules. This is a business for these coaches and a passion for us fans. We like to be holier than thou criticizing others but when facing the fire I don't think too many here would be upset with a major roster overhaul.

Maybe this is overdramatic, but I genuinely believe Underwood's ability to succeed will be dependent upon finding temporary help in the post for next years squad. If he can't successfully recruit a freshman or grad transfer post player, our team will again struggle mightily next season. IMO, another free fall season without any conference success will make it incredibly difficult for Underwood to recruit the type of players we desperately need to be a successful program. I'm all for adding players like Cunningham, Trice, & Jacobs to our team (they are all high energy guys that play really really hard).

Definitely overdramatic. We have many deficiencies besides post presence. We only have 1 guard who can score, we aren't athletic, we don't shoot well, and we're inexperienced.

Every team outside of the top 3-4 in the B1G has some type of weakness. If post presence is our weakness, but some of those other things get fixed then we can win games.

It's possible, but right now the creaning and blowing up the team talk is being blown way out of proportion. 3 guys will leave max, but probably only 1 or 2. My biggest fear is Leron wants to transfer to a winning program. Losing sucks, especially when you play as hard as he does. That would really hurt this rebuild.

Leron seems to actually enjoy playing with Frazier and I would not see him going anywhere. The new fiancé may have something to do with it however. Not sure her history/family etc...I believe she is a sophomore however. I think Leron is a lock if true.:chief:

Jordan Goodwin has been suspended for 2 months effective immediately. He was found innocent of sexual assault and guilty of violating school policy. @SLU_Billikens @KSDKSports

#Illini offer Sunrise Christian wing Blake Hinson. Love his toughness. Versatile & can score it off the bounce. Wants to reclass to 2018.

So if he wants to reclassify to 2018, does that mean he is picking basketball over football? He seems to be highly sought after as a tight end as well (https://247sports.com/Player/Blake-Hinson-78308). As others have noted, seems like a long shot at this point.

She is from Chicago. Highly doubt Leron transfers, no where else is he gonna get the PT and opportunities that he has here.

JGoodwin suspended rest of season but not expelled at SLU. Seems his long term future there is legitimately questionable though. Wonder if now that a decision is final, that we can expect to hear something from Gordon's camp.

Goodwin is headed back to Belleville for remainder of season, eligible to return in May.

Would be extremely hard for Gordon to get out, unless Ford gets fired.

Goodwin gets the superstar treatment in that he goes from an 18 month suspension to a 2 month suspension and Gordon stays. Goodwin also declared innocent of sexual assault. He was the videographer. Ford stays too. Goodwin family also gets to keep their bag money.

Goodwin is leaving campus and going home, but will be back with the team/school in May when the suspension is over. Unless he decides to do something else..

This begs the question.. Whatever happened to the fourth player who was apparently expelled? From what I gather, none of the kids were expelled. At this point, all have been suspended, and 1 is coming back after his suspension, Goodwin.

Hearing rumors of a recruit named Thelazia Gulosa. Heard he's got a good eye.

It is really strange to go into last Fall period with 3 "open" recruiting slots and only come out with 1 commitment and now talk of a total rebuild in Spring with a total class of 5 or 6. Not ideal. Staff must have really mis evaluated the THT, Castleton and Nolley situations.

Think the staff also has had a little trouble evaluating the current roster. BU's comments on how the team "makes shots in practice", calling Finke an "elite shooter" and really talking-up Mark Smith as so hugely improved are some examples. All understandable given how they were coming in fresh with a lot to do. Very glad they seem to be moving to correct things just as quickly.

I wonder if this will affect Gordon...in terms of him staying at SLU now.

isn't Gordon suspended from his hs team ?

I think we don't need any more issues on the roster or team meetings will set a B1G record

He released this statement but of course things could still change.

"I take responsibility for a violation of University policy. I am going to take this short time to reflect and learn from this situation. I apologize to everyone who has been affected. I am sad to leave my team, but I look forward to returning to Team Blue in May."

Sounds about right!

I know rankings aren't everything, but count me as a little less excited about this... Especially with the quality of schools that are taking kids number 40-100 on this list

I think we are seeing the assembling of the Dr's of Dunk roster right before our eyes. Screw this shooting thing, we'll just run and dunk on everybody.

I'm all for getting players that fill roles that are currently lacking on the roster. We lack athleticism and rebounding on both ends, Trice would add that immediately. The question marks are obviously about his offensive skill-level, and his ability to guard the type of bigs he'll be up against in the B1G (his current opposition is looks woeful). Regardless, I think Trice could be a nice role-player and energy guy off the bench. This team needs that.

I'm guessing that Trice is still a back-up option at this point given that the staff is supposedly still hot after a wing, 5th-year big, and Courtney Ramey. We can't Crean everyone.

Demarius Jacobs is an interesting offer. I saw him play a few times when he was still at Uplift in Chicago with his brother (Kansas commit Markese Jacobs). This kid has some fire, almost to a fault. I watched him go toe-to-toe with Ayo at the Proviso Tournament last year and hold his own extremely well, but the game heated he was nearly thrown out (and I think his coach actually was). We need some of that fire, but it would be something to keep an eye one.

Jacobs likes to get out in transition and has great athleticism. That being said, I'm not sure how good of a half-court offensive player he'll be at the next level. He isn't a great outside shooter, and at 6'3", you wonder about his ability to get to the hoop (paging Mark Smith). On balance, I think I like to offer to Jacobs, especially because I think he could be a very good defender, but he's not a sure-thing contributor at a B1G level unless his outside shot improves.
