Surprised we haven't heard the name Jason Candle. Repeated number 1 recruiting class in MAC, out recruited Lovie from the MAC. Offense averages 495 yards 325 pass and 169 run. Young coach (41) from the Mt. Union tree 38-21 at Toledo. Just weird we haven't even heard this name.
Leipolds passing offense 832 yards total for the season 166 yards per game. We passed for 158 yards per game. Not exactly a wide open offense. They did rush for 344 per game. His offense is more on par with Army, Navy as far as balance.
Lewis can hire a top defensive coordinator. He is winning in year two and 3 at the power house Kent St. and took their offense from 128 to number 1. Leipold is in year 6. Leipolds defense gave up 578 yards in that same game.
Give me Sean Lewis, a young current HC with tons of energy, from Chicago who has the number 1 offense in all of college football (over 600 yards per game). LL is 56 years old already. Rather hire a year too early than miss out on him.
Longshots guesses: Bryan McClendon played for the Bears briefly, is from Chicago was OC at South Carolina and is now passing game coordinator at Oregon and Tee Martin was OC at USC and is Assistant head coach/WR cacoch at Tennessee (no ties to Illinois).

The difference in the programs you named and this program is those coaches have won at those jobs, Lovie's 3 years have been a nightmare. Retaining a bad coach is just kicking the can down the road something we have mastered.
Kliff Klingsbury was just fired for going 35-40 in six seasons. Lovie would need to go 26 -13 in the next 3 seasons (which is NOT happening) just to match a record that got a coach fired. That power house Texas Tech has higher football standards than our school and fan base. There was no need...
My replacement guy is Seth Littrell, young (40 year old), comes from the Mike Leach tree and runs his air raid offense. At North Texas he took over a 1-11 team and has gone 5-8, 9-5 and 8-3. They beat Arkansas and Southern Miss this year and his offense is ranked 18th overall and 10th in...
And for every Barry Alvarez comp there are hundreds that should have been fired a year sooner than they were actually fired. A bad coach is a bad coach no matter how much time you give him.
