Iowa probably played their best game of the year tonight...ditto Michigan tonight. Purdue played 2 of their best games this year against us, and stunk it up tonight. It has a LOT to do with timing. Also more likely to play great at home...although the Iowa-Maryland game goes against that trend. You just have to hope the team you're playing doesn't have the magic mojo when you play them.

Michigan gets 12 more shots than Purdue because of the +10 rebounding edge and only 7 TO's versus 14 TO for Purdue. Michigan shoots 52% versus 44% for Purdue. Michigan won every phase of this game. We did not... we have to rebound better to win the conference.

Well I guess Purdue left their talent and their legs back at Mackey Arena after the Illini game.

So does this mean that Michigan is 40 better than Illinois? :)
Or if Illinois had played Purdue tonight as originally scheduled, Illinois wins?
Teams have ups and downs and things change through out the season.
Has Michigan now got it together or was this just one lucky game?

It only showed their ceiling. Nothing more.

Purdue was making terrible defensive decisions like leaving brooks open in the corner for three straight 3s while bringing a half assed double team to the PG at half court. I do think matchups matter, and Dickinson can hit from 3 now, we better watch out when we play Michigan again, Kofi has to guard him out to the 3pt line

Apparently Illniagra wears off after a few hours.....

I heard it’s only happened for one play - a long range inbounds pass from Williams to Edey.
I saw that. Took them 1 second to score two points. Lost the game, but great play call.

Another bit of BT trivia: I didn't realize until ~ 10 years ago that, while everyone else joined between 1896-1912, Michigan State didn't until 1950. Basically replaced the Univ of Chicago.
Yup… and for a brief period, the Big Ten was known as the Big 9. Somewhere I have a picture of Illinois’ Rose Parade float with the “Big 9” logo.

They’ve got five losses, AND two more games to play than everyone else. No way they end with less than six losses.
scUM has five losses and still has to play *at* tOSU, Wisky and Iowa, and host us, Sparty and Rutgers. They don't have a single gimme left on their schedule. Nothing I've seen from them makes me think they'll run the table.

I think Wisconsin has the easiest schedule down the stretch: at Indiana, Minnesota and Rutgers, home against Rutgers, Michigan, Purdue and Nebby.

Covid helped us with Purdue's crazy schedule. They played 6 games in 15 days, four in the last 9 days. We've only played 4 during that span. This experience could help Purdue be better prepared come tournament time. Our schedule sets us up for winning the Conference outright if we just take care of business. Unfortunately there are no easy games anywhere. Heck, I'm nervous about NW this Sunday.

I disagree. I see 2 losses there. Michigan could actually start playing better, Purdue will be up for them, and I bet the lines are close vs IU and Minny.
