2016 NCAA Tournament Bracket

#51
I'm thinking this could be a year where not one of the 1 seeds makes it to FF. For snicks, let's rank the 1s from most likely to make FF to least. My list: NC, KU, VA, OR.

I think PU could give the Cavaliers a lot of trouble. Midwest looks to me like it sets up well for an all-B1G final, PU and Sparty.

Don't follow the Pac-12 much but it's hard for me to believe Cal with 10 losses in the Pac-12 is higher-seeded than Maryland. I'll be watching that 4 - 5 matchup, figuring it will go to the Terps, and setting up what could be a pretty good matchup with KU.

Best for last: by the end of next weekend, one of Indy and Kentucky will be gone. :)

They are putting two full segments in between the announcement of each regional in order to sell more advertising for longer, because they are fully aware that no one has any interest whatsoever in this show beyond the 5 minutes of actually announcing the teams.

Disgusting, unforgivable contempt for the audience. I can't believe some producer actually had the gall to do this.

I agree that I'd like to just get to the brackets... can be done in 15 minutes probably... But haven't they always stretched this show out to an hour ?

Des Moines got the A team to go along with some ho-hum first round games. Then again, if Austin Peay becomes the first 16 to win a game, these are the guys who should be calling it.

Brooklyn gets a couple of good games, so Verne is a good match there. I had to look up Jim Spanarkel--first 2,000 point scorer for Duke.

No matter how you slice it, this is a great time of year. I'm glad no one expects me to be productive at work this week. :)

It went from an hour to two hours this year.

The story will be the bracket leak, and that's interesting, but the cravenness of that move should really be the headline. There have to be norms that govern a society. The smarmy huckstering that was going on in between the regional announcements was an expression of pure contempt for the audience.

I know they want Raftery doing the Final Four, which is great, and they want to keep their #1 team together throughout the tournament to get them comfortable together and build momentum, but splitting up the Verne and Bill Show is a terrible decision, IMO. Best announcer duo on earth.

I agree, but Nantz is IMO as good a "replacement" as you can get for Verne.

If we could do without Chris Webber and Reggie Miller, it would be better. But at least neither one of them will primary at their location. Great time of year.

No one will be as good as Gus Johnson in tourney time.

Too soon to talk about Austin Peay and NCAA tournament.

In other tournament news, the Vegas 16 can't find enough teams to fill out the bracket. Might become the Vegas 8 or be cancelled.

Northwestern, Nebraska & Penn Stat all turned it down.

Smart moves on their part. Playing in front of 100 fans at a meaningless tournament is a bad way to end your season.

Webber's pretty good. Miller I agree with. And I just wish Lundquist and his over-announcing, yelling whatever he does would just go way for good.

And, if I read this correctly, it's the 9th straight year that no Illinois team other than the Illini has made it.

There are 13 schools! In a top 5 state for talent! How is that possible?

Didn't Illinois State make it somewhat recently? Or am I losing it?
