2016 PGA Tour season

Langley and Guthrie are playing the web.com event this week. Scott is having a good round today, currently T7. Luke had a tough start, will need to play really well this afternoon to make the cut.

Thomas got 1 stroke back, needs another birdie or two down the stretch.

And he did !
Thomas is at -1, with the currently projected cut at Even.
Pretty much impossible that it goes to -2, so he makes the weekend.

Tough finish for Thomas. Just didn't have it on Sunday and finished absolute last.
Hope Austin goes a lot better (although he did make the cut, which is always some measure of achievement).

So the draw is out for the Dell Match Play event. First round and Thomas draws....Adam Scott. Talk about a tough assignment, Adam's playing the best golf of his life so far this season. But it's match play, and strange things can happen with that format.

I'm sure his mind is also on the tragic events back in his home country, that probably doesn't help his focus.

I'd certainly call it a very successful day for Thomas, going on to halve his match with Adam after being 2 down with 3 holes to play. That was a really nice putt to win 17 and square it up. I know Adam have him a bit of a gift with his 2nd shot on 18, but that was an impressive 2 putt from 58 feet to save the match.

Yeah, getting a halve there was nice, although I didn't realize Scott had such a poor match play record. Fun format to see away from the pressures of the Ryder Cup.

I turned off the TV after Spieth birdied the 9th to take a 5 stroke lead at the Masters.

Oops.

Spieth will be back. He's only 22 and can get over this easier than a Greg Norman could.

5 Illini playing in the Zurich Classic this week. That's happened before, but probably the first time it's happened in an event other than the John Deere Classic.

Think I got this right
Luke Guthrie
Charlie Hoffman
Scott Langley
D.A. Points
Steve Stricker

And other possibilities in the future
Thomas Pieters
Charlie Danielson
Coach Small

Strong !

Thomas Detry is making his pro debut on the European Challenger Tour, their equivalent of the web.com level. So far, so good. Two straight 5 under par 66s, I think he'll be getting his European Tour card without too much trouble.

Brian Campbell is T5 at the web.com event in Ivanhoe IL after 1 round. Nick Hardy also playing there, had a rough start but it's good experience for him.

Affrunti, Stricker, Langley, Points and Guthrie are all in the field in Memphis at the St Jude Classic. Stricker in 2nd, Guthrie T18.

Two-time European Tour winner Thomas Pieters paid a visit to Cleydael Golf and Country Club to cheer on close friend Thomas Detry on day two of the KPMG Trophy.

The childhood friends, who played for their country as schoolboys before going on to become team mates at the University of Illinois, have been the shining lights of Belgian golf since their youths, both winning national championships in their homeland.

One year Detry’s senior, Pieters quickly became a European Tour star after two wins in successive appearances at the D+D REAL Czech Masters and KLM Open last season.

And while the spotlight will once again be on Pieters this summer, when he is likely to represent his country at the Olympics, the 24 year old does not believe it will be long before his long-term friend is making headlines.

Nice interview with Brian Campbell on golf channel today at web.com event. 23rd on money list so far and trying to get his tour card. Not playing in US open to focus on his card. Nice shout out to coach small and the program too

May all of our O&B brothers have nice walks in their parks today.

Would love to see Stricker and Points kill it today!

So Detry finished T6, off to a good start and I'll be surprised if he doesn't earn his card for the Euro tour next year.

Brian Campbell finishing up at the Rust-Oleum web.com event. Should have a good finish and continue progress towards getting his card.

Guthrie having a good round before the weather delay in Memphis, moving into the top 15. That helps his chances to improve his status for next season.

As of right now, Stricker and Points would both earn an exemption into the Open Championship. Not sure if Stricker would take it, he's declined to play it in previous seasons when he was playing more regularly.

Brian Campbell moved up to #17 on the Web.com money list.
Top 25 make the big tour.
Good status at the half way point in the season.
