Sure would be nice to get Chris Sale to the playoffs while he's still in his prime. I still think we're one move away, but it's looking more and more like Avisail Garcia is going to be our starting right fielder. :(

The first football game will be held at US Cellular field Nov 9th with NIU hosting Toledo. Hopefully they have issues with getting the field ready due to the World Series just ending.

Pretty solid read on Rodon's upside/potential.

What I think is encouraging is that Rodon could turn himself into Liriano even without a greatly effective heater. That’s because Liriano hasn’t had a greatly effective heater. Liriano represents an accessible upside, and upside isn’t the same as expectation, but here’s where we are. Rodon could look to Liriano as an example of what his career could be like if he figures out that changeup. It’s an elusive pitch, but it’s been successfully hunted.

The Kershaw thing? The Kershaw thing is really cool. It’s neat for Rodon’s slider to have such an incredible peer, but we sort of already knew that it would. It’s a phenomenal pitch. Rodon just needs another pitch, and he knows what it is, and he knows how to throw it. That pitch could well determine Rodon’s whole career. And in the shorter term, that pitch could well determine the fate of the year’s AL Central.

Austin Jackson. Sure. Fine.

The nice part is, with him taking over in center and Eaton presumably shifting to right, we'll go from zero above average defensive positions in the OF to two.

I am reading lots of info on both sides. Media actually seems to be down the middle, some criticizing the players, some Laroche, some Williams, some simply reporting both sides. Actually refreshing to see this approach.

I'm finding the overwhelming majority fall on the side of White Sox mgmt. At least those with any reason/logic/rationale.

All in all, the Sox don't employ Adam Laroche anymore and that's categorically *awesome*.

I'm gonna go through "Oh great, here comes a strike out" withdrawals...

Well dammit, I watched the game last night, any of you guys? Sale didn't have his stuff, IMO, yet still got the 4-3 win, going 7 full. Sox bats need to wake up...

He had the big triple, but Eaton drives me insane. no outs and the heart of the order coming up on a home run hitting team and you get picked off. No reason for that to ever happen.

It was a work of art compared to most any game I watched last year. Most notably defensively.

It wasn't without it's curious Robin moments. Such as:

1. Three Relievers in the 8th. Petricka brought on first to promptly walk his only batter. Give that inning to Nate Jones outright. Robin is brutal managing a bullpen.
2. Bunting Navarro up 1 run in the 9th. There's so much "why" to unpack here.

Should be Jones in the 8th, Robertson in the 9th. Such an easy call.

Jose Quintana's 53rd no decision. Unreal.

Per Quintana...''The most important thing here is taking the W,'' Quintana said. ''That's part of the game. It happens sometimes. We won the game, that's most important.''

Gotta be gettin' old saying that over...and over...and over...and over...

The W might be the most useless stat in all of sports. I don't understand all the talk about Quintana's W-L record.

Fans and sportswriters place an inordinate amount of value on wins. Q's lack of wins, coupled with the White Sox general suckitude over the last 3 years, is the reason he isn't viewed as the borderline ace he really is.

It doesn't make Q a better/worse pitcher, but it keeps him from the recognition he deserves as one of the best in baseball.

A good read on the subject: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/appreciating-jose-quintana/

At this point, it's become just an incomprehensible statistical anomaly. I don't think anybody with a brain thinks he's a less than great SP because of his lack of wins.

Honestly, I would say that Quintana is a Buehrle-esqe pitcher with a better fast ball. I really hope there is no reason to trade him away and that Rodon can continue to improve you may be looking at a 3 headed monster, considering we have Quintana under club control until 2020.

Rodon is gonna be a 9 figure guy when he eventually hits the market - provided he stays healthy. The Sox have to capitalize while we have these three on the same staff.
