@Rusty_SFChron Where is Charlie Moore going to school? Illini or Mizzou?

The point is, she cares enough to investigate. It's a very good thing.

It also confirms we need to be careful.

My wild speculation is that this is either all a pretext to follow Cuonzo, or Mizzou won't be in the picture at all. I don't forsee a UI vs Mizzou recruiting battle here.
This is 100% on point. It's either CM to CM or it really is more about his father. I'm pretty zen on this one.

Also, can confirm that driving to Columbia is a schlep. I had to do that quite a few times while my (at the time) fiance was still a Tiger.

Chicago to Columbia, MO is quite a schlep, I've done that drive.
I did too, many times in my 20s to pick up cases of Coors beer which wasn't available here then to resell. I definitely didn't enjoy it at that age, can't imagine a sick man in his 50s or whatever would even want to attempt it.

Need to have a good in home with CJ today. I know we can't sell him on FF possibility at this time, but selling him on the system could work. Seems to really like to go fast. Would be a HUGE pick up. Biggest pending option right now IMO

Wait, what?

I have made the flight from STL to Chicago for work and you spend more time in the airport than in the flight. Southwest only comes around once for drink orders. How am I supposed to get drunk?

I like that we're debating if we want a top 60 player to transfer to Illinois because we're so loaded at his position:)

Yes, we desperately need a big, but I'm pretty sure BU and staff will take talent where talent comes from at this point.

If Moore wants to be closer to his ailing father in chicago wouldn't that mean a city school like DePaul, Loyola, or even Northwestern? I guess we will see. I don't know how Missouri would be close to Chicago.

Sorry Frank. Let me correct myself. The Illini team with the most wins in school history, most consecutive wins in school history, regular season and big ten tournament champs, #1 in AP Polls and #1 seed in NCAA Tournament, NCAA runner ups to a UNC team filled with non-student athletes, and SI voted best team to never win a title.

My bad. I should be more specific next time....

A. I wasn't arguing with you.
B. Both teams are awesome.
C. Everything you listed was awesome.
D. If those two teams played 10 times all those accolades wouldn't matter. Good chance that goes 5-5.
E. I was jumping on the idea of having lineups that are unconventional and being dominant with it.
F. I'll be more specific next time.

I thought I remembered Northwestern getting involved after CM decommitted from Memphis, but I can't find an offer from them on the recruiting sites. Regardless, I would think that would be the most likely landing spot for him if he really does want to be in the Chicago area.

Gracias!

Some rumblings on twitter of CM interest in Illinois. You have to go for it if you're BU and co. Can still sell Mark Smith on making an immediate impact next season while Moore sits out. I also don't see an issue with those two playing together in BU's all-action offense.

Smith and Moore are not going to need to fight for playing time. Smith wont ever have to fight for playing time here. he can play the 1-3.

Ayo and Moore is a much more interesting pairing given how when/if they both arrive, TJL, JCL, TF, DMW, and AJ will have all been here taking time at the 1/2. I find it hard to imagine we could grab both Ayo and Moore.

However, grab who you can, when you can. If Moore wants to commit tomorrow, you take him, ditto with Ayo. If we dont push for Moore. hoping Ayo comes, then I see no difference between them and Groce.

So while Charlie Moore would be a good pick-up, I am not as excited as some of the other posters. That could change, though, if we did land him and Underwood could clean some things up.

1. He plays too fast. Now, that could be because he was a freshman and also because Martin's system is slow, but he played out of control way too often. This could be fixed with BU's system since it's faster or simply because CM was a freshman and maybe the game will slow down for him. He had over 30 more TOs then anyone else on his team and an A:TO ratio of 1.2. (He averaged 3 TOs a game) I watched him several times (since we thought Martin could be our coach and I was once rooting for him) and I directly attribute most of those TOs to playing out of control.

2. He is still a chucker. He was a chucker in HS and is a chucker now. He attempted more shots than anyone else on the team last year and had the lowest shooting percentage of anyone that played at least 20+ minutes. (6th out of 6) With a .388 FG% and a .352 3Pt% (and depending on who else we have), I don't want Moore taking such a huge chunk of the shots. He can still get his, just not the MOST on the team.

For reference, I compared his shooting numbers with two similar systems in Weber's and Painters and Moore has the 3rd most shots attempted and the 3rd worse shooting %. (15th out of 17)

If he were to come here, I wold hope BU can fix these things but they are definitely issues. If he can fix them, then this is definitely a home-run. For now, I'd say a solid double.

From Brad Underwood's presser -- ""We like to play fast. We were one of the top teams in the country in scoring in the first seven seconds."

I think going from MP's system which is similar to BU's in getting up shots to Cuonzo's Purdue grinder offense put Charlie out of rhythm. Shouldn't be a problem here.

Is Moore trying to get a waiver to play immediately? It seems the announcement was very specific to say this transfer was to be closer to his father rather than the coaching change.

If so, then the new waiver rules are pretty clear it's 100 mile radius, which would eliminate us and Missouri - unless it's a time to live situation which can over-ride everything.

That hardship waiver no longer exists. He will sit out a year wherever he goes. CM was likely trying to make his decision to leave Cal more palatable. That's not to downplay the importance of the situation with his father however.
