2017 Basketball Transfer Thread

I'm not so sure about that. Experienced starting lineup of McIntosh (SR), Lindsey (SR), Law(JR), Falzone(JR) & Pardon (JR) is pretty good. Also returning from last years NCAA tournament team are Vito Brown (So), Jordan Ash (Jr), Gavin Skelly (Sr) & Barrett Benson (So). Also will add Rs Fr Rapolas Ivanauskas.

I won't bet any $ - funny or otherwise - against my Illini, but I would bet that Northwestern finishes top half of B1G and has a good shot at reaching the tournament again next year.

Vitto Brown was a Wisky Senior

On the other hand, they played a very weak schedule and lost to a bad Illinois team twice.

We will see if last year was a fluke or whether they are legit.

Not saying they are going to win the B1G, but their home loss to the Illini was without Lindsey, and he was just back from injury and didn't play well in their loss to us at SFC. I still think they finish 7th or better in the B1G.

7'1:Definately taller than coach!

Illinois is one of nine on Cal graduate transfer Kameron Rooks list according to this article:

http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2017/may/02/gonzaga-one-of-nine-on-cal-graduate-transfer-kamer/

I want Kameron Rooks badly. He is a true big man which we desperatly need for THIS Year! He averages 10 RB's per 40 minutes of play and brings experience and maturity. We have alot of recruits in the works for 2018 and beyond, but we have a gap to fill now. He's the perfect answer to give us one year while we work on getting the new program built. We need to start getting hyped up about this kid so he starts hearing Illini Nation calling!

As has been stated before, Rooks has limited mobility after undergoing surgery on his left knee. Maybe I missed it somewhere, but I did not realize that he is also the son of former Arizona Wildcat Sean Rooks.

By losing any 1 or 2 of these games they would also not made the tournament.
Vandy, Dayton non-conference
Ohio State, Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, Wisconsin
Other than Ohio State they will not do as well against those teams next year.
Iowa will give them more problems next year, and hopefully we can beat them twice again. They did play a better non-conference that I remember. IF we would have beaten Rutgers and they would have lost to Maryland at ther end of the year we both would have had 9-9 records and we would have gone over them. We'll see but they will not be better than 9-9 next year and I predice we will be atleast 10-8.

Lot of "ifs" in there.

They didn't play Vandy.

You haven't explained why they "shouldn't have won" those games. They were clearly better than Ohio St. They beat IU by 13 points at home. The others were close games against better teams, but they also lost some close ones vs Butler, Notre Dame, Minny, @ IU and Purdue.

They weren't some kind of fluke team. As mentioned, they lost Lindsey for a while and had a couple other players out for the season.

Getting way off topic for the transfer thread, anyway.

Just to be clear, I am not saying I don't like the direction that Illinois basketball is heading but lets be reasonable. We are loosing 5 of the 10 players that average 15 min/gm. Most sites have Illinois finishing 11 in the BIG, ahead of tOSU, Nebraska, and Rutgers.

Sure, if we add Alstork and another stub big like Tilmon we will be competitive. If you think we are competing for a BIG Championship next year and a deep run in the tourny...you are really drinking the Cool Aid.

Gentlemen's bet that we finish no lower then seventh in the conference this year. I think new coach, fresh ideas and some young guns with heart will give us the one or two decisive games that we seem to always lose under JG.

10 rebounds per 40 minutes over the course of 5 games... pass:hand:

He has gone through "gruelling" physical therapy and has worked beyond 100% as it was stated to get his game back in honor of his father. The last 11 games he played he shot over 60% and averagesd 8 RB'S. That kind of heart and determination is admirable. Kameron would be an asset to the Illini in every way!

If we are going to run up and down the court, he will have to stay on the D end and we play 4 on 5 on offence. I watched some video of him even back to high school, he is the only 7footer I have never seen dunk in a highlight tape

They did play Vandy. First game in the tourney and won by 2. To stay on topic they did pick up Turner a transfer from BC, but he will sit out.

BOOM! Feed my ego.
By losing to Vandy in the first round of the tournament... they wouldn't have made the tournament? :suspicious:

Most likely going to have to wait another week or 2. Once school is out, names will emerge.

My goodness, that program has gone from a promising mid-major to a mess real quick. McIntosh and Clayton were the Redbirds 2 best players. They will struggle big time next year even in the abysmally weak MVC.

I would put Paris Lee in that best player category.

I hear what you're saying. I am not contending that he is going to play 40 minutes. His contribution would be to provide some quality minutes in the paint and provide MUCH NEEDED size and depth...if you want to see him dunk...ESPN clip of Cal vs Stanford Feb. 2016, he had double-double to help Cal take the win.
