If you're going to express that level of certainty and knowingness, you'd better just give us the list.

I can tell you that Lavin, Holtmann, Muller and Jankovich will not be the next Illini coach. Let's see how I do.

After retracting your earlier statement that there won't be a change at all, of course.

Huh? Why don't you link that statement?

I'm not trying to trick you here. I assume your list of candidates is the same as everyone else's here. Out with it.

No it's not, and I believe I have linked my list a few times already back from 2 months ago. But I can guarantee you that it is different than yours (e.g., Muller, Jankovich, Holtmann).

Hiring a NBA assistant is a mistake in my mind. We need a proven recruiter that can recruit the state. When we have been good we have kept talent in state.

Is this still your guess?

Don't backtrack on me now, you said that I made a statement that there won't be a change. I never made any statement like that. As far as what I said with respect to the NIT, you asked and responded a few days ago again:

As far as whether, I still believe the posts above, the answer is yes. IF Groce makes the NIT, I still have some serious doubts we will make a change.

Groce will be fired if they don't make the NCAA Tournament. I promise.

As I said in my post, it would not surprise me if he does get fired. But I still have some serious doubts it is a done deal as others believe. As far as record, or expected outcome, I have also posted based on what we have seen so far, this is not an NIT team. Even with 8-10 there is no guarantee of an NIT, but it would take a lot of improvement and better basketball to get another 6 wins.

Not seeing 6 wins out of the remaining 11 myself. I wonder if we'd accept a bid to the NIT if we're offered?

Might depend on if Groce is retained. I personally can't see a scenario where JW sees an NIT or 11 seed as reason to stay the course (versus the past 3-4 years of JG's tenure). But let's say they get into the NIT, JG is fired. I can see the team not wanting to continue their season.

We will, Illinois will not turn down an NIT bid, even if we fire Groce before even playing in the NIT. Turning down an NIT bid is an insult and JW and the administration will not do that.

I don't know how things work in situations like that, but wouldn't the players have a say in it too, not just the AD?

I do not believe that they will put it on a vote. The NIT is a tournament with a lot of tradition and is still a great part of NCAA basketball. It would be insulting to the committee and the institution to turn down such bid. People may think that NIT is below us, but we will not snob them.

I'm not saying it's below us. I'm just saying that if JG is fired and team is invited to play in it, the players may want just have the season end. I can imagine it'd be a bit demoralizing to play in a tournament after your coach got axed. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think an AD would ask the players in a situation like that before just agreeing to participate.

I believe if the administration decides to fire Groce before the NIT with no plans or substitute coach in place, we will simply not get a bid. But it will not reach the point that we do receive a bid and then turn it down.
