I’m excited to see what a healthy summer in the weight room will do for Da’Monte. That’s something to be excited about.

Wow, in December? That must have been really difficult to go out on a limb like that after the season had already started and we had shown we had some struggles.

Should have left that part out. Point being no one should have expected to make the tourney thus year and nobody should expect to make the tourney next year.

Yeah, losing to EIU should've been all the indication any one needed.

At this point no, but there's a long way to go to see how all this shakes up, and how the roster shapes up.

Expecting new players to take this years team to the tourney is a mistake. If kipper or aj or finke became a consistent 3rd option it would make sense to raise expectations ... but they didn’t.

I hope we make it next year. I don’t expected it.

While true, it would take an incredible recruiting season to drastically change that outlook. We all have our fingers crossed but until the dominos stop falling on our heads and start falling in our laps, it's pretty tough to maintain a positive outlook on next season.

No periscope tonight- but I will say. Illinois will have a different looking team again next season. #illini staff finishing up player meetings tomorrow. The amount of '18 schollies should open your eyes.

Good news is that everyone can still blame the new roster learning a “new system” for our not-goodness

#185
Through out all this stink Underwood still got his $25,000 attendance bonus.

#186
I have good “vibes” about LeRon staying for his 5th year Senior season. He has a fiancé in area, he flourished in the new system playing out of position, and some people I know on campus say he looks at home in Champaign. He will average 20+ next year and will be able to parlay that into a payday in one of the higher overseas leagues.

#187
See, that's where I am currently, too. Leron could definitely go overseas now and make some serious pocket change, but I think a strong campaign next year would increase his earning potential cumulatively more than playing one extra season of pro ball would.

I can appreciate the optimism some had after that loss, and maybe it didn't mean anything, but I wasn't happy to see that at the time...

Hes not unless he changes his mind at the end of the school year. Lucas and vesel are gone. Kipper no idea one way or the other. Haven't heard anything. Black may explore pro options but way less sure of that than the other 2. Wouldnt expect a decision soon.

I feel like somebody should have responded to this

Are you trying to say you don’t feel the vibes ?

Just think it is ironic that after one of the worst BB seasons in memory that we give a guy who gets a C grade at best a bonus for a 10% increase in fan attendance. He very easily could have acknowledged that milestone and given that $25,000 to a needy charity. He would have gotten a lot more mileage out of that gesture. Sorry, but it just came across as a little selfish.
Feeling the vibes, absolutely, but concerned too, absolutely.Go illini

As much as you "love" BU, if he would donate to a needy charity, you would be the first one on here to say how he chose the wrong charity to give the donation. BU can't and won't ever win with you... We get it... Maybe, your boy Kendrick could donate some of his 2nd leading NCAA scorer accolades to a "charity" that you would approve...??? Nothing against KNunn, but you seemed to condemn BU from the start, yet you congratulate KNunn on "bouncing back from a tough situation". I'm thinking that he dished out the "tough situation"...

Sad, the way that you rank some things...

Totally disagree with assessment of TeJon. Best defensive guard, best passer, and good at taking it to the basket and only backup to Trent at this point. Not sure who you think is going to replace him but it certainly won't be a freshman.

+1
Late to post on this, and others might've already chimed in too, but I like to read posts in chronological order. I think TJL is vastly underrated by many posters on this site. Yes, he needs to work on his 3 point shot and free throws, but does bring a lot of positives. Loved watching him and Frazier on the floor together at the same time, and TJL ran point more often than not in that scenario. My impression is he's a team player (suspension issues aside) and in one of Rob's videos he talked very positively about Frazier's breakout year, how they're buds off the court and TJL is a mentor to him. My words, obviously, not verbatim from TJL. I see 2 more years with TJL as a solid role player, coming off the bench or starting depending on who's playing well, even with Ayo and other quality guards joining the team.

“That’s a little selfish!” says the guy demanding someone else take a very weirdly specific and unnecessary step to meet his personal desires for optics.

Need to save the doom and gloom for when we know the roster. Smith and Alstork don't lower the expectation and we competed well this year without a big man. Add Kane and a year for Ebo and we have to be better unless we lose a significant piece to transfer.

Well, "competed well" doesn't cut it when you only win 14 games (and 4 in conference). We need to do more than "compete well".

But yes, I agree that we should probably save the doom and gloom for if/when we find out that Black transfers. Then, it's every man for himself around these parts.....

"Competing well" is better than the "not competing" we saw the previous umpteen years. I rarely wear orange-colored glasses (although I did predict 18 wins this year :( ) but I'm more optimistic for the next season than I've been since Weber was fired.

Enough people have already hammered this ridiculous statement....but I am going to add on anyways. In the business side of things, the program needs butts in the seats. That generated revenue, revenue that will go to improving the program. If the addition of BU alone put extra butts in the seats, then he deserves that bonus. It is what the market calls for
