its top 5 that advance, but yeah 10 up over 6th place little rock, northwestern is +1 but not done with 1st round so they are in the top 5 currently.
whoops you are right, they were tied at that moment anyway so I wasn't too stupid.

#227
and northwestern is streaking, lets go big 10! they are -2 for with just a couple hole left they, could be the 1st round leaders, not that I really want that.

Looking good still.........we're in first place at -8 and up 3 so far on OSU, who playing with us. Most importantly, we're up 11 strokes on the two teams tied for 6th place --- Auburn & Sam Houston. Feagles currently leading the way for the good guys at 4 under par. Go ILLINI!!!

Through 27+ holes on day 1:
First 18 Holes: -2
Next 9 Holes: -6
Last 9 Holes: TBD (still on the course)

The final 18 Holes to apparently be played on Tuesday/Wednesday, as weather permits.

OSU is winning because they have shot lights out on the par 5’s. With one hole left, they played this 18, -17 on the par 5’s and even on the rest. They have 3 eagles and we are only -10 on the par 5’s with one hole left. They passed us on the 2 eagles on the last hole. But the good news is that we have a 17 stroke lead on the 6th place team. We are 3 back on OSU with the final hole left.

Now up to 20 strokes better than 6th place. Excellent day.

Way to go, Illini.

Lousy weather predicted for Stillwater starting tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday, - rain, t-storms, possible flooding, according to National Weather Service.

I sure hope what happened at Baton Rouge doesn't happen at Stillwater.

Great to see Gio rebound.

Always nice to play on your home course.

Yeah, for a sport like golf, getting to play on your home course for regionals and nationals is really unfair
that is a huge advantage for sure, with the enormous number of great golf courses this should be at neutral sites, for the national championship at least

Going to be a battle for the last team spot or two. Fourth place is Even, then +3, +4, +5 and +9. Going to be some nerves at work for sure

One little sound explains Karsten Creek as a regular championship venue: PING!

Years ago, when I would bet a whopping $2 across-the-board on a horse at Arlington, I usually went for "Beware the rusher!" I liked that idea. Now? Let's go bad -weather team - mudders. Sounds real good. The team is in good hands with Coach Small and his experience.

GO ILLINI!

Have to think the ticket out of regionals is basically punched. Chance to take down OSU on their home track should have them fired up over the next two days. Hats off to Coach Small. I was wondering if Gio might get sat down after his first nine. Impressive mental toughness to rally again just like at the Big 10 tourney. I think Coach should tell him he’s 10 over when he gets out of the van. 😀

Sorry, Illini are not at Stillwater to beat Oklahoma State but to advance to NCAA Championship. That's all that matters. It would be great to shoot lower than Oklahoma State on its home course.

But WAY TOO EARLY for predictions of any sort, friend.

It's golf, after all.

I promise you those players are thinking about nothing other than beating OSU. Always look up the leaderboard or down it. 19 shots clear of 6th? They are way too talented to back up they far.

Big shocker of the day yesterday was OU shooting plus 1 and is 4 strokes out of 5th after day 1. This is one to watch if OU plays another ho hum round. But we are in excellent position to move on to the nationals. We have the balance to win if we can get to match play. But one step at a time. Lets get through today. Interesting to see us play another round against OSU in possibly adverse weather conditions.

Since they are playing head to head with them, it will be good for the guys to play against the best. They crushed us earlier this spring so beating them would be a huge motivational lift

Yup, beat us by 22 strokes in Augusta and 19 in Tuscon. Of course cold weather schools have a tremendous disadvantage in early spring. Small's teams always 'catch up' by late season.

This would be quite an upset if we can beat the Okies today. Their players have likely competed on this course dozens of times and know every inch of it like the back of their hands.

They are really good. They subbed out their 5th man after round one and the kid that didn’t crack the initial lineup shot 65. Not bad. Having said that, this Illini team can beat anyone. Really solid.

Looks like regional is over, according to Golfstat. Too bad. But Illini proved very worthy. At least NCAA and locals, coaches, etc.made the right decision based on weather forecast. Unlike Baton Rouge, there appears to be a consensus this time. On to Arizona, Fighting Illini!
