With the lone exception being DeMar DeRozan's daughter Diar.

I just watched a YT video cuz I had no clue.... Uhhh no, can't make exceptions for minors.... although not as bad as an adult doing it, it's still cringeworthy. I'm guessing by this comment you are a Bulls fan? I'm not an NBA fan so I can be unbiased....

Oh come on. If a player is any good as a free throw shooter they should be able to zone that out. Just because Toronto couldn't hit for hardly anything that night doesn't mean she shouldn't still be around.

I'm not saying she shouldn't be around. I'm merely agreeing with the original statement about how annoying it is. Just saying I think it's okay to criticize the same behavior regardless of age..... No one is removing the adults, so they certainly wouldn't remove the minor. Especially the daughter of a player. You think the child wasn't encouraged/coached/coaxed to do this?

And to be clear, I don't know if the video I watched was a single game or a season long compilation of screaming..... Doesn't matter or play into my thoughts on it. You think it's cool, I don't, lol. And here we are.

I know we get on Fran’s case here, but he had a Zoom video clip on this morning’s news in Des Moines where he went off on the teams who declined NIT bids. His first line was basically “I don’t know why we’re even having this conversation. Of course we’re going to play.”

One thing about Fran is you will never have to interpret what he’s saying, for good and bad. :)
THis pains me to say, because I'm from the QC's and I hate Iowa...but I have gotten to like Fran. Some of it is the entertainment value of his vitriol, but he and Brad genuinely seem to like each other, and I do think he is a really good offensive coach.

On a more serious note.....please start kicking these FT screamers out of these events. If I was sitting near one I'd end up in jail./s
They're at every. Single. Game. Or at least every one I've watched thus far. I know we had our own in the Big Ten...Was it Northwestern with the gal screaming until she was blue purple in the face?

Do you think the size of the television market plays an implicit role in selecting the last few teams to get into the tournament?

Try being the NCAA selection committee explaining why Indiana State didn't get in and these two teams did.
To be fair, the second half showed I was probably too harsh on Colorado State. But the 2nd half REALLY added to then comment for Virginia.

The committee should get skewered for the decision to include Virginia. Classic case of what happens when you rely too much on metrics and not enough on context.

The Mountain West is a good conference. They beat up on one another but yes, I'd say a few of the teams were underseeded. I personally like New Mexico, Utah St, and San Diego St. to make some runs in this tourney. Colorado St has good talent and I wouldn't be surprised if they take Texas down.

New Mexico has a 3 headed monster at guard and has depth too. But then again, not too sure on the man coaching the team. Richard Pitino has never struck me as being a great coach. So, if there's one thing holding them back, it might be the coach

As we've discussed, I have, too. Grudging respect: Fran is both a really good offensive coach and really offensive good coach.

The concept of “we aren’t going to play in the NIT so we can get ready for next season” sounds so hollow.

Give your staff a chance to plan practices, or even let an assistant be the head coach for a game.

Give some players who haven’t played or who you think may be transfer portal candidates some game time.

More practices wouldn’t seem to be a bad thing.

But I do know all of those things probably are a foreign language to control freaks like Pitino. If I were running a program, I’d absolutely accept the invite and do any or all of the above. Make lemonade out of it.
Don’t know if it’s still true, but back in the day every team was allowed to practice up until the day of the NCAA Final. Learned this in “A Season on the Brink” where the day after IU lost in the NCAAs, Bobby Knight bid farewell to the seniors and then had the rest of the team practice until the afternoon of the championship game.

Thanks. I'd completely forgotten about that pass. AC was a magician. Will never forget that MLK Day game against Purdue when he returned to the lineup and single-handedly forced OT. Take away that concussion, and the behavioral changes it apparently produced, and I wonder what might have been had he stayed and developed.

It’s so weird - and if they win the 2016 E8 game, what would you think of that sequence even more?

My takeaway is defense travels but in a single elimination tournament you need guys that can make plays in the half court. You play enough close games within 10 points, you’re subject to a few big shots from the opposition.

Record and ACC regular season finishing position added in bold.

Yeah. Kinda mystifying. They're top-quartile ACC annually and regularly face-plant in the Dance. Must be the tempo thing. Fall behind and they're dead.

It is truly the ultimate college basketball Faustian bargain. I always thought if we could just get a championship I'd be fine with whatever happened next, but man, his resume makes me completely rethink that. It's not just the horrific tourney losses, for which there are just so many, but it's the night-in and night-out slog. You know the second that ball is tipped if any sort of fun breaks loose, your team is gonna lose. And if you go down by double digits, you have no chance of clawing your way back into it. Even despite the regular season success, being a UVA fan would be maddening. At what point do they finally decide it's too much and fire him?
