Freshman Caden Pierce from Glenbard West is a monster on the boards for Princeton. 15 total, 7 offensive. He can shoot it too. Maybe we should throw some money at this kid instead.

Why does Mizzou bring so much energy and quickness to St. Louis for Braggin’ Rights and then play like a bunch of unmotivated sloths in the dance? I sure don’t know.

Maybe it's just me but I only really hate Mizzou one day out of the year. Hated them when they took all our players at the beginning of Underwood's tenure, but now that Cuonzo and all those guys are gone they kinda just exist for me. Gates hasn't given me a reason to hate him.

We are their tournament apparently.

Apologies for keeping this debate going. I know that's not why people are reading this thread. But my words were twisted or misinterpreted so would just like to set it straight if that's ok.

I never said that I have a problem with BU or the trajectory of the program. The correct interpretation of my comment was that if BU is here for 20 years and can't take us to a Final Four, I'll want someone else. Every coach who has been at Illinois for 10+ years has gone to a Final Four.

I also don't think it's that controversial to say that between Izzo, Painter, and Underwood, I think Izzo has had the best career (to date).

Anyways, I just didn't want people to think I'm calling for BU's head or something.

Carry on. Go Illini.

Bracket is really opening up for IU. Next time that happens for Illinois will be the first time.
Hasn't happened much but two I can think of. In 1997 we were the 6 seed and got a break when No. 14 Chattanooga upset the 3 seed Georgia coached by Tubby Smith...but of course we lost to Chattanooga.

And in 1995, we were the game after No. 14 seed Old Dominion knocked off No. 3 Villanova in triple overtime which completely opened up the path, but after leading most of the game if I recall we lost to Tulsa coached by Tubby Smith on a late 4-point play. (So Tulsa was 6 seed and us 11, but had we held on and won the bracket had certainly opened up for us with Nova losing already)

We were in the George Mason region the year they made the Final 4 too.

Funny how a bunch of kids without NBA aspirations or athletic scholarships winds up in the Sweet Sixteen, eh?
This is becoming the curse of NIL. Instead of playing hard in college, and getting the pay off in the pros, they now get paid in college. Once the check is in the bank, it shifts to what is the minimum (not maximum) they have to do to get next years check, or even just get through the season (i.e. MM)
