Yeah when UH 3 is not going it is easier to crowd the lane against them.

Also their FT% tonight was horrible compared to when they played us

How much was that Nova’s defense and how much was it UH? I am not sure.

Nova did not look that much bigger than us. However they could move the ball and limited stupid turnovers
Not a notable disparity - they were 12 of 17 against us, 9 of 14 against ‘Nova . .

Houston against Illinois: 42% FG, 27% 3-pt
Houston against Villanova: 30% FG, 5% 3-pt

Great defense by Villanova, but c’mon… woulda been nice if they shot like that against Illinois, haha.
Houston's shooting numbers were not that great against our defense. 42 & 27 aren't killer numbers...ours were just worse+ turnovers.

I love watching Villanova play. Perfect footwork. Head fakes. They value the ball. They stay on their feet. Don’t reach. I’d like to know how much time they spend on just those fundamentals.
Also interesting that they pass well - and 90% of the time that was a basic, fundamental BOUNCE PASS. And before somebody jumps on me, no, that is absolutely not a shot at ‘belo. I love his game when he is “on”!

Thought I'd just post this since this was 17 years ago.

I'll take the memory of that remarkable game to my grave. And it was a long, painful road down and back up again from there. I remember sitting on the floor at my brother's house in Syracuse watching that comeback with my 11-month-old daughter crawling on the floor in front of me. She'll finish high school in a couple months.

How many freaking times is a ball going to get stuck on the hoop stanchion this tournament?
This is at least the third time it's gotten lodged in the same spot. Put a piece of plywood up there or something ferchrissake.

That dunk may have saved this game for Arkansas, or at least stopped the death spiral.

It's not the bucket, it is the cheap rubbery basketballs the NCAA stole from the local Jr Highs and Pop A Shot games, to use in the tournament /s (sort of)

Am I really going to have to root for Self or UNC just to keep Coach K from winning this on his way out

Notice Duke threw in a zone in 2nd half. Haven't watched them all year, but guessing that was a rarity. Good example of switching things up, doing the unexpected from time to time in the tourney. That was a hot topic many posters like me were hoping we'd see from BU. Still hope we do in future tourneys.

Banchero asked whether he wanted to play UNC again (last time he preferred UNC, and VT beat UNC and then Duke in the final), and he answered: "you're not gonna get me this time."
I literally laughed out loud.

I think it was because the defender held possession of the ball at the same time as the offensive player.
Chuckle. Yes, that is what would trigger the jump ball call; but the 'Nova player stumbled and slid on the floor before that, with his feet sliding along the floor with him.
