Our QB rollout game under Rod and Tony had issues, always seemed the roll was right at/into the oncoming unblocked defensive end who was able to immediately disrupt and pressure the QB
I am in SoCal.
The Rams do the play action bootleg beautifully on 1/4 of their passing plays. Stafford is no threat to run but it gives him wide open view of the receivers. If you have a mobile QB like Justin Herbert of the Chargers it becomes twice as effective as the LB has to stay back to make sure QB doesn't slip past him and run for 15 yards.

Glad it’s at least being thought about in those terms, but it will be a challenge to find that right balance.

I don't know how much improvement we are expecting or how much of an immediate splash we can expect with regards to our attractiveness to talented offensive players. What I do think is realistic is expecting a huge uptick in production from Luke Ford and Barker if he returns.

Luke Ford had only 15 catches last year for the Illini.
JMO but a 8 yd pass to the tight end across the middle is a high percentage play. The tight end should be able to get a step on the LB who has to worry about whether the tight end is blocking or going out for a pass.

I totally agree with this but Barker and Ford had 33 receptions together last year. Two main factors that held them back were both missed 4 games last season and you had two QBs who couldn't hit a sitting target. Peters had a conference completion percentage of 53% and Sitkowski was just under 46%. Barker/Ford amounted for 20% of the completions and 46% of the receiving TDs. They were highly effective when on the field but I agree can be utlitized even more and hopefully stay on the field healthy next season.

Jon Budmayr was CSU's OC last year. Interesting up-and-coming coach. Was Wisconsin QB coach prior to his year at CSU. Originally from Woodstock, IL and is only 31. Would love to see us find a way to add him to the staff since he's currently out of work but would think he is headed for a better spot than a position coach. I would give "credit" for the 3-9 record to Addazio.
