Damn. It's tough to win so better not miss any chance you get. It will haunt you.

Games like today are why I don’t bet on pro football, but more importantly my favorite teams.

We’re so close to 5-0 it’s not even funny. With Howard’s fumble at the goal line and the dumb offensive PI we should’ve had another 14 pts on the board.

Took a few days to digest that loss, but here is my question.
Does the fact that Nagy refused to let Trubisky throw the ball on that last drive reflect a lack of confidence in his qb?
That would be very troubling, even this early in his career.

I Figured it was more trying to run down clock to try and get the win or give Miami nothing to work with should a field goal miss.

Neither of those things happened.

That would not be very troubling. Trubisky is growing and is still prone to mistakes. Nagy trusting his good o-line and good rbs is not a knock to Trubisky. He went safe, running the ball is always the safer option no matter who the QB is.

Plus, we were running the ball better and better as the game went on. You expect to be able to get at least 5 yards there and maybe break a long one. 48 yd field goal is a huge difference from 53. Just didn’t pan out.

Remember when Nagy passed with 1 yard to gain in GB and everyone said “what is he doing? Hope he learns his lesson for next time.”

This time he ran it. And now people are saying “what is he doing?”

I don't think the situations were remotely similar. Against GB, the Bears were up and the keys were to keep the ball out of AR's hands and eat clock. Passing 3rd down and then not going for it on 4th accomplished neither of those goals. It was a bad call.

Against the Dolphins, the last drive had the goal of score points. Giving the multiple 10+ yard runs by Howard already on the drive, giving it to him again was a logical choice on 3rd down. It was a fine call, though looked like execution failed (missed block or outstanding play by Miami).

The issue wasn't run/pass, it was clock and game management.

FG wins, nothing wrong with going for the win.
I didn't like the fact that they stopped trying to move the ball. I don't mind kicking, once your offense stops working and it is 4th down, but to just assume a 53 yard FG is going to be made, instead of trying to get closer, or even score a touchdown, always gives me an uneasy feeling.

If it had been 3rd and 1 or 2, I wouldn’t have minded the call.

If it had been 10 yards closer and looking at a 43-ish yard fg, I wouldn’t have minded the call.

But 3rd and 4 sitting at a 53-yard fg should have been a pass play. Some nice safe out pattern where the ball is either caught or goes out of bounce.

The part that didn't make sense was settling for a 53-yard field goal. I don't mind playing for a field goal if you're 10-15 yards closer, but its not as if a 53 yarder is some kind of chip shot. Considering where they were at on the field, its not just the third down call that's questionable, but the whole series. A pass on first or second down or both would have been fine with me. They pretty much passed at will in the second half. Also the time on the clock was a factor. If there was 20 seconds left, I get it. But the miss gave Miami the ball on their own 43 with over two minutes left, plenty of time to zip right down the field on the Bears' gassed defense.

On first and goal from the 8 I'd like to see them run on first and second down.

I was gonna post something positive about Bears before Pats kickoff return for TD. Now I'm negative:Trubitsky, Trubisky? can't pass. Arm motion is all wrong. Brady has a true baseball arm. What a QB!

Still, the Bears are improving, I guess.

And yes, da Bears have the best unis in all of football.

Tru is not a great passer, but boy can he run! Go! Beat these New Englanders. Make a statement! Bears 45-10 in Super Bowl against them.

Did I mention: Bears, best unis! Ha.

Trubisky has been about as inaccurate as I've seen a qb pass without being yanked. Fortunately he's made some plays running the ball. Bears D has to step up now down 7 late in the third. Btw Pats offensive line is holding on every play.

Theoretically I wonder how bad Trubisky would have to play to be replaced by Daniels. I wonder if Nagy would ever do it.

The Bears should just sit Mack until his ankle heals. He's been not much of a factor the last two weeks.

Trubisky did NOT have a good game today. Understatement, I know. But he didn't get much help from his wide receivers - didn't get open, three or four drops, lost every 50-50 ball - nor did he get much help from his head coach. I'd like to see the W-L record when second year quarterbacks are asked to drop back 58 times in a game. I'm guessing it's not good. It was especially frustrating when Jordan Howard looked the best we've seen him all year, and they went great swaths of the game without calling his number.

The Bears special teams... woof!

When does Shaheen come back from IR? I'm done with seeing Deon Sims trying to catch passes. You might as well have an offensive lineman out there. In fact, after he botched that pass that hit him in the hands, the Bears just started using an offensive lineman instead.

I'm also done seeing Floyd in pass coverage. If he's not rushing the passer, he's useless.

I think they were only using Mack on passing downs. I agree with Aaron. They might want to think about sitting him until he's healthy. He's a really highly paid decoy right now. He's had 3 tackles these last two games and that's it.

All that said, they were only a yard away from sending the game into OT. This team is WAY more entertaining that I thought it would be heading into the season. They should win their next two, and you could argue that 5-3 at mid-season would be a mild disappointment.

He has to sit out their first 8 games so he'll be eligible to come off IR following the Week 9 game at Bufflao.

A lot of the talk postgame was why the Bears two best pass rushers were used so much in pass coverage today. And as a result of them being used so much, Roquan had to come off the field in certain situations.
