If we could beat Minnesota and Minnesota could beat penn st that would be awesome. A competitive penn st loss to Michigan will have them still showing well and feeling ok and Shouldn’t hurt their ranking too much if at all, and Minnesota after Michigan and before an Ohio state is the perfect trap game.

We're still Illinois and bowls aren't going to reach to take us. But teams they'd jump to take over us like Nebraska and Michigan State might not make it to bowl eligibility at this point.
The fight is for the West IMO. We've locked in a bowl, let the question of which one takes care of itself.

2. Obviously Michigan (or Ohio State) would be their first choice if they aren't both in the CFP, and a 10-11 win Penn State their second.
And a 10-2 Penn State vs a 10-3 Illinois, we know what that choice will be.
But if we can beat everybody but Michigan it's a possibility. And ironically we'd probably rather lose to Michigan than win if the Rose Bowl is the target. But that's all getting waaaaaaaaaay ahead of ourselves.
We currently sit in Detroit/Phoenix, and every win from here moves us up one rung on the ladder, that's probably a decent rough heuristic.

I never have been able to get into college football for a myriad of reasons. One reason is this. I haven't the slightest what any of this mess really means.
Lots of football left. We take care of business the sky is our limit. I am not worried about our bowl game that will take care of itself. Let’s close out the West and then win the Big Ten. One game at a time cannot overlook anyone

It is not though it is on January 2nd due to NYD falling on Sunday. The two playoff games this year are the Peach and Fiesta Bowl.
Honestly probably not unless they're somehow ranked above Michigan or Penn State (though I'd be surprised if the Nittany Lions are still as much of a factor since they have to play Minny and tOSU at home the next two weeks).

Right, if it's us and Purdue maybe that's a tough decision for a bowl, if it's us and Penn State it's just not.
One more win and we won't be in Detroit, three more and we'll be on New Year's Day.
But the first postseason game we have our sights on is Indy.
I think there are plenty more than that. But he mentioned MSU. Im not sure that between tv and bowl travel they'd top us.
It would be interesting to think of the travel thing. Do teams like MSU fall flat in travel in years that are down?

We played in consecutive Redbox Bowls, them in 2018, us in 2019. These bowl reps will know not just how many tickets were sold but how many flights, hotel nights, and all the rest were accounted for by the two fanbases. It's not hypothetical guesswork.
That sounds like a “you” problem.
Can we just beat Nebraska for now?
I get where you’re coming from, but if I recall correctly, we aren’t on the field. Those of us talking about 11-1 don’t have to prepare for the next game.
Obviously we want to beat Nebraska, but the talk of a 11-1 or 10-2 season ain’t too ridiculous right now.
