This would be my ideal finish to the season and would set up a fun playoff. Interested to hear what others hope to see...

1. Indiana (beats tOSU in an instant classic)
2. Georgia (beats Bama by a ton)
3. tOSU
4. Oregon
5. Ole Miss
6. A&M
7. BYU
8. Texas Tech
9. Oklahoma
10. Notre Dame (Bama loses by too much to stay in)
11. North Texas
12. JMU

100% they won't. They did in the past, but it's a terrible idea given the format today. The SEC has been complaining (with good cause), worrying that a deserving team could be left out with another tough loss. Also terrible for a lucrative game like the conference championship if teams didn't want to be there because of the risk. The only scenario I can see where it might make a difference is if a team was already on the bubble and embarrassed itself.

I’d take all of them other than Pinstripe and music city against Tennessee.

If I could draw up absolute best case scenario, give me LSU in Nashville.

A one loss team #3 vs. a two loss team #9

Game day at the latter.

With conference expansion and super unbalanced schedules within conference allowing now for severalteams in a conference to have 2 or less losses, I think what needs to happen is an expansion to the conference championship to include a 3rd vs 4th ranked team as the lead in match for the 1v2 game. Call it something like the "Playoff Eliminator".

That 3 vs 4 game would not have to go by conference standings it could go to the 2 teams with the best CFP rank in conference that aren't in the title game. And I'd also make the rule that any team not playing in either the Championship or Playoff Eliminator is ineligible for the playoffs.

That means a max of 4 teams from any conference can make the playoffs, and all teams will face the highest quality opponent their conference still has to offer. I feel that not only will this be popular with the fans and be profitable, it will also allow for some separation between teams.

If anyone is thinking the American Conference, or the MAC, or even the watered down ACC is going to win a playoff game, never mind a natty, they're simply delusional. I see the issue with the plan because of the perception of the SEC being the "best conference" and will garner a majority of the playoff slots, and that's a reality to be dealt with. But this exercise of including marginal teams into the payoff is lunacy. Of course if the SEC's path is chosen, we're back to the old days of the AP/UP polls, except the national champion has to win a couple games to actually be declared the champion.

ND's AD Bevacqua said recently that there's "near unanimity" amongst the conference commissioners and ND, to go to a 16 team format. That format is likely 5 highest conference champs, plus 11 at large.

Still need to solve who and how you come up with the rankings/seedings. 16 is a nice round number, but if the committee is still the answer, and ESPN is still the network, it really won't solve any of the issues, it'll just push the debate to 15-17.

Also, I'm no anti-trust lawyer, but my guess in you're going to have to throw a bone to the G6 conferences and get at least one of their teams in this 16 team format.

the trip is really not about the bowl game, but it is scheduled accordingly . If we don't go to the Music City Bowl, I will be a little disappointed. but Ive only driven thru Nashville, never stopped there, and I've never been to Savana nor Charleston, and they are on our list. A little road trip w/o the golden retriever is right at this point in time

Is there going to be pushback next round of CFP negotiations to wrest complete control away from ESPN? Maybe a 50/50 rights distribution with Fox or something.

It could be in my head, but it certainly feels like the Pros take more control over their media rights than college conferences. Obviously, the lack of a central organization managing this for all of the NCAA impacts this, but man, non-ESPN partners need to start pushing back.
