I just watched Swiss Army Man. I haven't laughed that hard or said wtf that many times in quite a while, lol. This is a love it or hate it type of movie, no in-betweens. I feel like the ending could have been improved upon, but that's just me. It's not in wide release and I doubt it does well generally, but it appealed to my very eclectic tastes. It will almost certainly be the weirdest movie you've seen all year if you choose to watch it.

I've added that one to my list to review. A friend of mine just recommended it this past weekend. Sounds so intriguing. Paul Dano is an incredible talent.

Hoping to have 10 reviews up by 10/16. We're nearing our the requirement needed to apply for amateur reviewer status on Rotten Tomatoes. Here's my tentative schedule for reviews:
10/8-10/9 (5):
-Netflix "From the Couch": (1) The Fundamentals of Caring, (2) Rosewater, (3) The Overnight, (4) Rock the Kasbah
-In Theaters: (1) Don't Think Twice

-10/15-10/16 (5):
-Netflix "From the Couch": (1) Gomorrah, (2) Kagemusha, (3)
-In Theaters: (1) The Girl on the Train, (2) The Birth of a Nation, (3) The Magnificent Seven.

10/29-10/30 (2):
-In Theaters: (1) Hell or High Water, (2) Swiss Army Man

As much as it pains me, I won't be reviewing Don't Think Twice. The only showtime conflicts with the Cubs game on Friday.

I watched The Lovely Bones tonight on Netflix. I have to admit I really enjoyed it. So I was taken aback when checking reviews afterwards and found it was in the lower 30 percentile on RT. I was surprised to see that Peter Jackson was the director, never would have guessed that. When I saw that Saorise Ronan, who played Susie Salmon in the movie, was also the young lady who had starred in Hanna, I was reminded of how much I enjoyed watching that as well.

Ian, I know it's too late to revise but your links to Fundamentals and Overnight takes us to The Big Short. I'm sure you're greatly distracted by the WS. Thanks for the review on Gomorrah, I have it but have yet to watch it. I'll put it in my current pile of films I intend to watch soon.

Bah! I'll work to fix that tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!

Dr Strange was good. I was a big fan growing up. Cumberbatch played, and fits the part, very nicely. If you go, stay to the absolute end of the credits, there are two separate clips to be seen.

I saw it tonight, too. Enjoyed it overall, but I sense we may have some differing opinions. :)

I'll do a write-up this weekend at some point.

I'm curious but I'll wait for your review! :thumb:

A few friends saw Hacksaw Ridge and raved about it. I guess I'll give some thought to seeing it soon.

Needed a horror movie for Halloween so we watched The Witch. Wasn't what I was expecting but what a well made movie. The cinematography, music, set pieces, etc really set the tense feeling throughout the movie. Great acting all around too. More Rosemary's Baby or The Shining kind of horror if you're in to that.

I reviewed that one!

Tuesday I will have reviews for Dr. Strange, along with two "From the Couch" Netflix reviews of Experimenter and Manson Family Vacation.

My review partner will have Hacksaw Ridge up by then as well.

That'll put us at 100 total reviews since 11/9/2014, meeting the numbers/deadline criteria to apply for amateur critic status on Rotten Tomatoes! Fun stuff, even if we miss the cut. Thanks to everyone for reading! :)

If youree gonna see Dr Strange, might as well get the full effect and see it in 3d IMAX. It was worth it visually.

I've seen it on the big screen, I'm going to consider the 3D. It's been a long time since I saw a 3D movie, last time a got a raging headache. Are the glasses they give you any good? Or are you better off taking your own higher quality pair, tho I have none. :D

I have no issues with the ones they give. I know you have to have ones that will work with the imax 3d. Which ones are those? I dont know, never worried about it.

Talk about a sci fi classic. Still has my brain exploding today.
I thought it was okay. Definitely not brain exploding. I thought/was hoping for some big twist that never came. Left a little disappointed.

A lot of movies coming out I want to see so maybe something good will redeem.

Did we watch the same movie? We obviously don't have the same taste in movies.

Eddie Redmayne was wonderful in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Full review tomorrow along with Swiss Army Man.
