Penn St is back in the top 30, so we currently have the Q1 win back from when we played them in Champaign. Ohio St looks like the only team with more quad 1 wins than Illinois has.

I would definitely take a 2 seed
This sounds weird, but other than having the number 1 overall seed for certain reasons, I would rather be a #2 only from mere fact of less pressure than number 1. With this team, it would fuel the motivation.

If we can get 1 of the top two 2 seeds, then yes. Then we would avoid Gonzaga/Baylor until the Final Four.
Gonzaga doesn't worry me as much as Baylor....think we would match up with Gonzaga ok....Baylor is a match up problem for a lot of teams

Don’t understand, you could still be in a bracket with one of them unless you are a 1 seed. Play them in elite eight, right?

I believe the Top 2’s get the lower 1 seeds in their bracket.

The top two #2 seeds will be in the bracket of the third and fourth #1 seeds. So we would avoid Gonzaga and Baylor assuming they are the top two #1 seeds

Unless something unexpected happens Gonzaga and Baylor would be the #1 and #2 overall seeds. They would play in brackets with the two worst 2 seeds (#7 & 8 overall). If we could get one of the top two 2 seeds, we'd play in the bracket with one of the other two 1 seeds

Depending on how they reschedule some games, we should win the next 3 on the schedule right now,(NW, Minny, Nebby) We then play @ Wisky & @OSU. Then it's most likely they'll have us play Sparty & Mich., both road games. Those 4 games will determine our seed. Tough road lies ahead. We'll see what this team is made of.

Means we can be any between 3 and 6 but don’t want to be 7-10. OK Better win out to be sure.

Assuming one or both of the other two 1 seeds are B1G teams, might that influence bracket assignments in any way. Everyone plays in the same city, so geographical questions should not come into play. My guess is that it would not make a difference given the separation between Gonzaga/Baylor and the resut.

On an unrelated front, what are the odds against having two undefeated teams in the title game?

I'd assume the selection committee won't worry too much about B1G teams in the same bracket as there will have to be 2-3 B1G teams in each bracket if we get 9 or 10 teams in the tourney.

I'm good with anything in 3-6 rank. assume Gonzag/Baylor are 1-2. Then to avoid before Final 4, we want to be 3-6, 11-14, (19-22....). There are no other teams I fear, that's not to say they won't be tough to beat. We match up very well against many of other teams in the 5-16 range - Kofi inside on O and D (any team lacking a solid big, Kofi & Ayo can dominate), our guard/perimeter and 3 pt D has really been tremendous lately, getting better and more consistent (all 40). our D will be the key to a Final 4 run. Our trajectory Nov-Feb this year is mirroring last year, just 1-2 levels up, which if trajectory continues over next 5 weeks, March will be fun. As good as we are playing now, we (fans) all know, and they all know as they say so in the interviews, they can and will get even better.

So a top 6 finish is what we’re after.

Not that the AP poll influences the final bracket, but that’s right around where we’ll be ranked there today & we’re currently #4 in both KenPom & NET.

Just gotta finish the year out strong.

If one has the fear of playing the top seed, the 4 and 5 seeds are ones that you really want to avoid too. If you get one of those, you get a potential matchup with the #1 seed in the Sweet 16(if they get that far) vs the Elite 8.

At the end of the day, eventually you have to play elite teams. I'm not a real big fan of wanting to dodge anyone as long as possible. You either beat them or you don't, regardless of round. Once you start getting into the, "I don't want to be in the same bracket as.....", you're saying that you don't believe that this is an elite team. You play who's on the schedule and you beat who's on the schedule.

P.s...when I say "you", I mean it as a generality and not you in particular.

That’s the way it should work but the Committee loves to mess with procedure. If the rule holds and we are the Top 2 seed, we will be in with OSU if the bracket was built today/.

In the past, I think they upseeded or downseeded a few teams to try to make sure conference opponents did not play in the first 2 rounds.

#23
Also regional seed adjustments due to location should not be a factor with the whole tournament in Indy.

Aside from conference game avoidance, this should be as close to a true reflection of seedings as we’ve seen.

Some thoughts:

- If there is one game I do not want made up (assuming they ALL can't be made up), it is the MSU game in East Lansing. Their NET is terrible (#91), but I feel like they're going to go off on some team eventually. It almost happened in Iowa City.

- Conversely, I want that Michigan game so badly. Obviously, we need to beat them to win the Big Ten, but also I think we are so much more battle-tested and could pull out a win:

ILL: 7-4 vs. Q1, 3-1 vs. Q2 ... 3-0 vs. Q3 and Q4
MICH: 4-1 vs. Q1, 3-0 vs. Q2 ... 6-0 vs. Q3 and Q4

The highest ranked team they have played and beaten is Wisconsin, and we just manhandled them.

Let's say that Gonzaga loses to BYU or Santa Clara or San Francisco before Michigan plays their next game. Does ScUM end up moving up the rankings again into one of the top two spots in the bracket?
