4 seed seems about right for this team. There’s no reason we can‘t make a nice run and extend this season a few more weeks!!! The core of the team ranks up there with some of the best so be sure to enjoy the ride Illini Nation!! 🔶🔷

We should be a pretty solid 4 seed. I don’t think any of the projected 5 seeds can pass us. UConn and Texas lost. Houston’s AAC win wouldn’t be impressive enough. The thing that would really upset me would be the committee putting Iowa ahead of us or giving Iowa Milwaukee if they win the big ten. We finished three games ahead of them in conference standings, beat them twice, and have 6 quad one wins vs what would be three for them. I could see the committee putting Wisconsin and Purdue in Milwaukee and Tennessee and Kentucky in Indy.

It might help if Arkansas loses today. Just some added insurance.

For those of you who still at this late date believe the NET matters, Cincinnati is at 99 today. Recall that quad 1 wins and quad 3 losses are of vital importance to the committee. Princeton with a win against Cornell today would assuredly pass Cincinnati, putting Cincinnati at 100. That is ok. 100 is the cutoff. The teams just ahead of Cincinnati are Louisiana Tech (they Play UAB) and Tulane (they play Houston). Illini fans would probably prefer a Houston loss, however. The only other team still playing is probably too far behind Cincinnati, but ... Akron (they play Kent State today).

Losing to Indiana was rough, but if layup fall (normal rate) we would have won by double digits. We got a similar gift when Wisconsin missed all those FT's vs Nebraska. We are playing well with energy, and Curbelo is 80% back running the show & rebounding (crazy numbers for a guard).

So, if we went going to win the B10 tourney. I'm OK with losing early to go to the NCAA tourney rested & healthy (hopefully with Grandison)

Based on our body of work, a four seed is exactly what we earned this year. This is a team that can easily lose in the first or second round. . . but if we get on a streak where threes are falling and Kofi is on (and he's not allowed to get beaten on in the post without getting calls), we can make an Elite 8 run.

The thing I've seen that's been missing is Trent's offense over the past few games. While I haven't looked at the numbers, ever since the second half of the @Purdue game, he's just seemed off from the field. Not sure if he's injured slightly or just has his confidence knocked.

At the end of the day, a Sweet Sixteen would be nice, I'd love to see a few more games from this group.

Both Lunardi and Palm has us in Buffalo with UCONN as the 5 seed and AZ and KU as the 1 and 2. I would rather be the 4 than a bubble team so you have to win 6 games and no one is unbeatable

Were not as good as we think we are. We can't score
Our biggest scoring problem is we have guys who cannot get to the rI’m and score on a regular basis. Also, a guy who can hit the 10 footer in the lane like Ayo could. Easy baskets are hard for us. If we had a McGowens on the team of that type of player it would have opened up better options with our scoring.

We actually took very good shots in the Indiana game. Just didn’t make them.

Going out to Buffalo to face UCONN, as the better seed (assuming we win that first game...), is pretty harsh punishment. Makes the loss yesterday even worse if that comes to fruition.
Buffalo is 6 hours from UConn and 9 from Illinois, so not exactly a home game for UConn. I am still hoping for Milwaukee. It is about $$, so not seeing a reason to send Arkansas to Milwaukee over us.

I think we play better as an underdog. It seems that we crumble when we are the favorite. I'll take it.
