A 3 seed should be locked up now, but who knows exactly how the committee thinks. A 2 seed would be a tough ask without a win against Purdue. Especially with Marquette and Iowa State playing in championships tonight against guaranteed 1 seeds.

Here's how I see things now:

Top 3 1 seeds (locked): Houston, Purdue, UConn
Fourth 1 seed (seemingly locked now): North Carolina
Top 2 2 seeds (locked): Tennessee, Arizona
Latter 2 2 seeds: Marquette, Iowa State
3 seeds: Creighton, Baylor, Illinois
Last 3 seed, 4 seeds: Auburn, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Alabama

So I'd say Illinois is definitely 11th at worst right now. Even if they lose tomorrow, they won't fall below 11th. If you have them 9th now, to get to 8th they'd have to pass Marquette or Iowa State, and Illinois would need a much better resume to get ahead of Marquette since they had a head to head home loss to them early.

Maybe you could talk yourself into it with a win tomorrow and a big Iowa State loss today, but it's a slim chance.
Let’s just be happy with a 3 seed, which is what I’m awfully optimistic now. Two seed is out of reach. Now I’m just thinking about which 2 seeds are good matchups.

I can see the case for Creighton, Baylor, Kentucky and Duke, in that order ahead of us. But I can also see the case for us ahead of Kentucky and Duke.

Kansas, Auburn and Bama I don’t see it. And no one else is in the conversation now.

Here are the things I see on those 3:

Auburn: Could win the SEC tourney, they're in the final tomorrow
Kansas: Their resume is unmatched, committee could cut them a break for injuries
Bama: 9th in NET, better resume than Auburn

I do think Illinois is above them all, as well as Kentucky and Duke for sure.

With Purdue loss, there's no chance at the 2 seed now. However, could we get the top 3 seed spot? Maybe they'll put us with the weakest 1 seed (UNC)?

Or does it not matter?

OK, let's assume we can finish no higher and no lower than a 3 seed. Where are we most and least likely to play as a 3 seed?

Next, let's assume we beat the 14 and 6 seeds we are matched with in the first two rounds. Which 2 seed do we want in the Sweet Sixteen? Which one are we most likely to get? (I am well aware that our recent history in the dance warrants no such assumptions)

Im assuming we probably still don’t get Indy over Marquette

This is my last comment on this since I am just repeating myself. They haven't actually beaten anyone. Beating the crap out of mediocre teams is one way to improve efficiency numbers. But to be a top 10 team, you have to actually beat good teams.

The computers' data is incomplete. They have less quad 1 wins than approximately 80 other teams. Saying they are a top 10 team would require ignoring a large amount of data.
We are probably not a top 10 team but that still doesn’t stop us being a 3 seed!

The two seeds right now on bracket matrix are Tennessee, Arizona, Marquette, and Iowa State . If Kolek is playing, I think my preference is Iowa State, Arizona, Tennessee, Marquette in that order.

This years tournament is so wide open. Houston is getting blown out by ISU and Marquette is right there with UConn. Hard to say there is a “clear cut” best team?

The real question is FAU in. Only 2 Quad 1 wins. 1 Quad 3 and 2 Quad 4 losses. Only 9 Quad1/2 wins

Lunardi's latest update has Illinois moving down to the last 4 seed, while Auburn moves up to the top 3 seed, because clearly Lunardi needs to log off and go to sleep.
What an idiot, he has some sort of bias or hole in his head that excludes Illini greatness.

Lol that just proves the joke he is - Illinois drops 5 spots winnning a Q1 game by double digits. If that doesn’t give you a reason to not listen to a word the guy says during his supposed “top time to shine” idk

Hopefully a win Sunday will help,I'm always worried that games right before the selection show won't matter because of seeding already decided
