There’s 3 teams with at least a +35 NET rating, which are the 1seeds you’d like to avoid:

Even if PU leaps us, we can still get STL if ISU goes to OKC, no?
Pretty sure that's how it'll work out. The NCAA wants as many people as possible showing up. The Enterprise Center seats about 22,000 people, so it won't ever sell out, but Illinois + Purdue + Kentucky (#6 which would suck) probably gets as many as possible in there. If Purdue were a #2, sliding a Louisville in there as a #7 would help. OKC taking Iowa State and Houston would be a huge draw, which would leave Nebraska in a tough spot.

Last year, as a #6, we magically ended up in Milwaukee.

Man, this weekend had so much promise and was supposed to be so exciting. Where did the January Illini go? Instead of watching my favorite sports team play 2 or 3 days in a row, I had to watch them blow multiple large leads to two players while the rest of Wisconsin watched. To top it off, seeing these new projections of a 3 seed with the likes of Purdue, MSU, and ISU ahead of us is just disgusting since we've done it to ourselves; none of those teams are better than the January Illini, but the Feb/March Illini have raised too many questions. I don't really know what my point is other than to say I feel like I've been cheated out of what was supposed to be one of the best seasons and post-seasons in years. I still believe a second high peak is possible this season, but we have really made the valley a lot deeper than it should have been.

23 years later I would just like to complain about our 2003 team getting stuck with a 4 seed. We were #5 in Kenpom, and in the BTT final postgame/Selection Show "pregame" the hosts were pretty unanimous we'd be a 2. Of course, we ended up not playing well in either of our games, but still...

My guess on the top 4 seeds in the region we land in. I have no data to back up this guess. Happy Selection Sunday!

1. Florida
2. Houston
3. Illinois
4. Virginia

I get people wanting to go to the game but I’m still not sure we should care that much otherwise about St Louis. Time after time we’ve seen this team perform better in the road. I want to win watching on TV not see a loss in person.
I get what you're saying. When I go to a game and we lose, it's significantly more painful than if I'm at home. That said, having a stadium full of our fans still gives us our best chance. If we end up in Greenville, you're probably playing with a stadium full of Duke fans. Our representation would be down by about 75%. Plus, we generally play well in St. Louis. We seem comfortable there.

It'll be whatever it's going to be. Ultimately, it's all about matchups. We know the types of teams we want to avoid.
